TheCount
You bet it does, bluetooth turned on you should have no problem at all. My iphone 3GS in synced with my 2010 Edge AWD. The Dealer helped set it up in less than several minutes. The original post is from 2007. Obviously this day it'd be rare to find a bluetooth system that wouldn't work with the iPhone, or bluetooth cell phones in general.
revOevoM
My phone's been paired with SYNC for over a month when I first performed the pairing. This is not an iPhone; it's an LG - one of the few that works with the text messaging feature. It was working great - pairing immediately when I get in the Edge. But it's been a bit troublesome the past couple weeks doing the pairing. Lately it would not pair at all. Call SYNC support. They tell me I have to go to the dealer to get SYNC reflashed. SYNC support mentioned there is a known hardware problem with the 2011 Edge SYNC systems. Can't get there till Monday (today is Wednesday). He also asked me (and I had never heard of this) was if I had removed my phone's battery. Wha? He said some phones will have difficulty with bluetooth pairing after some period of time if the battery is not removed periodically for about 20 seconds. Some phones once a week, others once a month, etc. I tried; did not work. Anyone know of this?

It helped about as much as pulling the fuse, but I lost all my other settings. When I used to have other types of phones, I would regularly power it down and restart to clean up it's memory. It did help with various issues. Support also told me there was no update to Sync and none on the horizon. I'm real interested in hearing the result of your re-flash. Be sure to wear that red tie you have on in your pic. You may get better service.

(Note, "reflash" in quotes) Before the dealer technician removed his computer, I went into the service bay with my phone. I pressed Add Phone in the car. This is where the pairing PIN has appeared for a split second, followed immediately with a "Pairing Failed" message. This time, the PIN stayed on the screen like it should and I was able to pair my phone no problem. On and off several times since then and the pairing is immediate like it was... and should remain. Weird part: the tech basically said he did nothing. Since there still isn't a SYNC update, he loaded the same update that he loaded when I took delivery 41 days ago. So he, my salesguy and I all continue to scratch our heads. When I get time, I may contact SYNC support to see if anyone can explain. I know, good luck wit dat. It cost me most of my day but, hey, I like driving the Edge, so not a total loss... and I got my phone back! So I got that goin' for me... which is nice. Reloading may have also changed some other parameters. Quite common for software issues.

So, you've confirmed that there are no updates. (my chat with Sync support today would only say no ETA on any updates) I had the pairing issue a couple of times. The code would flash then say failed. I fixed this by pulling the fuse 29. That fixed the pairing but as time went on, the BT Audio begins to fail and I still have to force the iPhone to re-connect to get it to notice the SYNC in audio mode
revOevoM
It's software and it can get corrupted. Reloading may have also changed some other parameters. Quite common for software issues. I'll buy that, but... in theory, the same sofware is active now as before, just a reload has occurred. Ford needs to provide a way for the end user to perform a reload. When this happens with software loaded on my desktop, I (the end user) can get support and reload, reset, whatever's necessary. I don't have to take my hardware to the software vendor to make that happen. Geez, what would be the logistics of that? If I'm able the apply an update to SYNC via a USB flash drive, then I should be able to "reload" the same software. Dealers aren't making any money doing this (unless they're reimbursed by Ford) and end users aren't getting any happier either.

A few weeks ago, SyncMyRide had the software available for me to load it onto a USB drive. I used it twice to "update" my system. They have since taken it down and now they have what they call "status checker". I've installed that once (and uploaded the results). I wonder if the process of installing the software from a USB is in essence rebooting the system. It's sure a bunch easier than pulling the fuse. Have you looked at you sync install history lately? I wonder if the dealership's update shows up. Attached is what my history shows. I installed the status checker on 10/19 and the car was built 9/

Here is mine, I know I tried the Status Checker, it must of been on the 21st, I took delivery on the 16th.
wilsons66604
Wilson you mention you updated twice, however it doesn't appear in your sync history does it? Right. My first two updates would not allow me to upload the status to SyncMyRide. Since then, they replaced the 1.3 software with this status checker. revOevoM
Only thing in my history is the initial install. Note Edge was built on 9/1.

I wonder if the dealer just pulled Fuse 29? I guess Sync would be one of the last things to install thus the 9/1 9/2 dates.

I'm pretty sure he didn't just pull the fuse. I mentioned that. He suggested to try this: disconnect the battery cable. While disconnected, turn on the lights or some other electrical function. That'll drain everything currently residing in the system. Reconnect and see if that remedies the issue. Interesting. Basically may be a "Fuse 29 + all the rest" reset. phygital
Hi, It works great!!! the command is "Bluetooh audio"... you can use the controls on your steering wheel to skp thru songs. I noticed at times when I use the remote starter and out of bluetooth range the phone doesn't connect. I thought it was the iPhone for a while, but it's the sync... I'm driving a 2010 Edge and I have yet to update the sync, but overall very satisfied. I must admit, it does work as well as the system in my M5. adoble
I have a 2011 Edge Sport and the iPhone paired up just fine and am having no problems with it so far, I was wondering if the Artist and Title of the songs should be displayed on the center console when streaming through Bluetooth, they aren't on mine and it sure would be nice. Not sure if I am doing something wrong... Thx
