lightning4eva
First real post besides saying what I paid for my Edge. Not a fan of a lot of Chrome so I got the grill from partscheap.com. I'd hate to ruin a perfectly good bumper in case I ever moved to a state where the front license plate is not required. So here are a few pics of my morning. Getting the front bumper was pretty easy once you found all the screws that needed to come off. Also not forgetting to disconnect the "fog light" wire. I would recommend undoing the 7 (?) screws under the bumber first, the 3 in each wheel well, then to the top where there are 4 plastic screws and 2 (10mm) bolts. Then just be gentle and pull forward a little at a time. 2 hours total from start to finish to include taking my time with the license plate bracket which I got from http://skenedesign.com for $50 Enjoy
c_bova
did you paint them flat black or did you just leave them the primed color?
lightning4eva
did you paint them flat black or did you just leave them the primed color? Left them primed. My reasoning in this is that I would not mind taking the front bumper off again to get them painted. I'm very curious in how it will stand up against rocks. Scorpio
Nice! We don't require a front plate where I live, looks like an option for a relatively inexpensive fix to lose that factory front plate holder monstrosity, especially since I'm not a fan off all that fake chrome either.
lightning4eva
The fiance is taking the Edge on a 1200 mile round trip VA-MA and back from tomorrow til Sunday. I'll let you all know how the grill handles the trip.
MickeyCondon
UPDATE: Had the new grill on for about 1600 miles w/OUT painting it (as is from partscheap.com) and there are no issues to speak of. I was worried about bugs being on the grill for a few days after the fiances trip north till the time I had to wash the car. No issues what so ever. Thinking about vinyling the top piece of chrome at the moment and if I do I might do the inner door handles. Thinking about the plastidip for the exterior door handles and the badges. kevinbburton
Anyone know if this would interfere with the active cruise control?
