smoothballer
To all the detailing experts out there. What is the best method to remove salt stains from carpet? My all weather mats leaked down onto the carpet and I know if I leave the stains they will become very hardened and impossible to get rid of...past experience. c_bova
get a good all purpose cleaner and scrub them good, you can try folex, or I use Meguiars APC+. What would really work though is if you had a carpet extractor, that would clean them well. But I'd soak them down and try a good cleaner and scrub them, and if you have a wet/dry shop vac vacuum them after that.
JOEHIO
I have the Bissell "little green steam machine" (or whatever the hell they call it) and it works GREAT. One thing I do when I first get a new car, is to treat the carpeting, especially by the door sill area's with scotchguard for carpeting. akirby
I would try just really hot water and a wet vac of some kind. If there is still a stain just use a good carpet cleaner.
richy
Salt reacts with water. To remove it, you want to do a hot water extraction, followed by a light mist of vinegar to neutralize any remaining salt. You can either leave it on or dab the vinegar off with a white terry towel.
