c_bova
Has anyone installed mud flaps on their edge sport? I know I've read some people say that with the side skirts on the sport there is a lot of dirt that collects on them, especially when it rains. I'm just wondering if installed some mud flaps would prevent this. But I'd want something that looks nice.
c_bova
I went ahead and bought these: http://accessories.ford.com/splash-guards-flat-molded-2-pc-kit-for-front-only.html So we'll see how they look and function.

c_bova
So I installed them tonight and pretty much had to make my own holes for everything but I think it they came out looking nice. Might have to get a set for the rear now just but I'll have to wait and see how it look out of the garage and in day light tomorrow. It's supposed to rain tomorrow so I should be able to see if they actually prevent all that water and dirt from getting on the rocker panel inside the door frame. Without further ado here are some pictures, any questions feel free to ask. Used my iPhone for pics so I apologize for quality and darkness of some. Started by using the R hole, but that put them a little low so I drilled another hole about a half inch below it. then I had to modify the splash guard a bit by cutting it as you can see this is where I drilled another hole for the other stock screw drilled another hole to add another screw just to keep it secure here you can see where I added that. JOEHIO
Good job there, c_bova, they look good, now to see how they perform. Joe
c_bova
Today it was raining pretty hard but it still seams that some water got in that region between the door and the rocker, sigh. Although it could be water coming from the weep holes too, so who knows, it looked dirty but not as dirty as before i'd say.
smoothballer
I was wondering if anyone put the Ford ones on. I love my 2011 Sport but the water/dirt/salt that the 22's kick up on the door panels is crazy. Now that I know it can be done, I will probably pick up a set for the front
c_bova
yeah it can be done with the ford ones, just have to pretty much not follow the directions and put them how you like them. I got them online through the accessory site and picked them up at the dealer, I was able to get them for $26 after tax. c_bova
increase brightness some so you could see it. but after looking more, it definitely appears water is coming in from the weep holes now.
Edgieguy
I made a set myself when i first got my Sport. Youll never keep the inner sills of the lower rockers clean and dry, but you will save the leading edges of the lower rockers from abrasive road grit, sand and rocks. c_bova
thinking of getting a set for the rears to just to complete the look. at times it looks out of place just having the front done. opinions?
Stevea26
I like the front only. I tend to think the rears look to low. I've mounted them a little higher just to avoid the lower flap look.
Mooshu
Just bought a set supposed to fit custom on the Edge from Cdn Tire in Canada have not put them on yet not a good day to work outside today so will put them on tomorrow or Friday. They appear to fit OK but will have to pull the wheels. . more work
JOEHIO
You might not have to pull the wheels. To do the right one, with the car running, turn the steering wheel to the right as far as it will go, and shut off the engine. The back end of the wheel will be toward the middle of the car, might buy you enough room to work, maybe it won't. Just a thought.
normcloutier
Mooshu, did you install the Canadian Tire ones? How did they fit? Which ones were they?
sajid.ali
Just added OEM Mud Flaps (With some modifications) to my Edge-2013, pics attached. I use only Stock holes, through hole "B" & "J" on the Mud Flap. Edited May 10, 2013 by sajid.ali

callatis
Hi, I bought the OEM splash guards for my 2013 Edge SEL and the guides indicates other holes I need to use that don't make any sense. The bad part is I already drilled them and without a cut there is no way they can fit even the manufacture doesn't say anything about cutting them. Anybody else had the same issue? normcloutier
I cut mine and have a template I could send you which also shows the holes. How much you cut determines the finished distance off the ground.
callatis
Hi Normcloutier! Sure, can you send me the template, please? Can you post few pictures?

Stay away from the OEM guards. HORRIBLE to install. The Husky's are far superior and have a custom look that matches the SE/SEL/LTD trim. Best of all a 10 minute install. No drilling and uses existing screws. http://www.fordedgeforum.com/topic/15547-any-one-have-pics-of-husky-mud-guards-installed/?fromsearch=1 I sold my OEM's on eBay. normcloutier
Here are the ones on my 13 SEL. The bottom of the flap is 6" from the ground. I used hole T, J and B/P 2 of the holes lined up. I used the speed clips that came with the flaps to secure the 3rd screw to the wheel liner so no holes needed to be drilled in the metal.
normcloutier
I would cut a template out of cardboard like I did and secure that to the vehicle and see if you like the height.
