PhillyAnt
In November of last year I purchased my first ever Lincoln and fell in love with my 2012 MKX. I love everything about the car BUT the darn MFT/Navi/BLUETOOTH experience. It really bothers me that Ford would release a system with so many bugs. I know the update is coming out but this just isnt fair. I spent $50,000+ on this vehicle and I can't even trust it. Some days my Navi will give me "SD Card" errors and just stop working. Sometimes everything on my screen will disappear. Some days it takes a good 20 minutes for it to load up. A few weeks ago I planned to do some traveling and 1/4 through the trip the navi stopped working completely and I had to rely on my cell phone to find where I was going. The touch screen is very slow and sometimes non responsive. Also having issues with the climate control. Dont know why hot air will come out of one vent and cold out of the other when I am trying to heat my car up. The bluetooth just sucks as no one can ever hear me and they always complain of a high pitched winding noise that apparently moves according to if I am accelerating or not. Plenty of other problems but I just dont want to waste any more time bitching about the low quality of the system in this "luxury" car I purchased... Really really really disappointed. Have you tried pulling fuse 29 to see if that helps? You should report these major problems to your dealer - it could be a hardware problem. Reconnect, let it go through the maintenance screen and then you'll be up and running again. i know it sucks for you, but take it to the dealer and make them do it...that's what i tell all of my customers to do... akirby
pulling fuse 29 is not a good fix IMO. disconnect one side of the battery for 5 minutes. It's exactly the same thing - it cuts power and forces a reboot. Unless there are other pieces of hardware that also need to be rebooted that aren't on fuse 29. But that has seemed to work in most cases.

I'd rather disconnect the battery than risk dropping the damned fuse down somewhere I couldn't get at!

FordGuru
So what's the difference between the two that makes you think one is better than the other? fuse 29 just resets APIM battery resets everything but KAM

JOEHIO
Thank you, FordGuru, for clarifying this. I have posted this same thing in the past, that the service tech at my dealership, said that if I did run into a problem, to disconnect the Posative battery cable for 5-10 minutes, for all systems to completely shut down before reconnecting. Some on this forum have posted that it is safer to do the negative cable. Your opinion on this please? Thanks, Joe

I purchased my new edge last week and just returned from a 800 mi round trip. I was more than pleased with my vehicle. It performed perfectly in all respects including incorporating my wife's and my phone into the system. So far the only negative i can come up with is the fact that it is not a flex-fuel engine. Not that i like flex=fuel, I hate them putting alcohol in the gas but if they go higher than 20% I will be in trouble. Also. my gas milage was not even close to the 27 mpg advertised. I got more like 21 and it was mostly interstate travel.

Gimp
you'll probably get better gas mileage once the engine is broken in. With my Edge Ecoboost I've noticed that the best fuel efficiency comes when I'm driving between 55 and 60 MPH. The efficiency begins to drop noticeably when I climb up toward 70 and above. I am making the assumption that the top fuel efficiency numbers listed don't come from what most of us consider to be highway speeds, i.e. 70+ MPH. I'm approaching 5,000 miles on my vehicle and haven't had a chance to make a long interstate highway trip yet so that is still an unknown for me. Disappointing indeed. My dealer told me to just bring it in again to reset everything, but say I have to wait til end of March before I can enjoy my new ford edge with working correctly MFT ?? Crazy Ford is getting away with this Ford has assured me I'll be getting the MFT update which is supposed to end all my issues on my 2011 Limited. That being the worst I should also mention transmission bump, closing sunroof, whistling noises, misaligned drivers door, etc, I really don't have the time to be Fords tester. Too bad as this vehicle had a lot going for it with design looks, size and performance. Ford built this in North America with cheap offshore suppliers is my bet. Very dissipointed...!!! PhillyAnt
I tried disconnecting the positive battery cable and resetting everything and still no luck. I have to say I am feeling a little bit better about the situation though. I called Lincoln today and told them how very disappointed and frustrated I was. They are mailing out a check to me in the amount of 1 months payment ($500+) to make me feel a little better about the situation. I was really surprised about this. They must know how bad they have messed things up with letting these broken computers be installed in our vehicles.
