rjlong
My voice on my MFT navigation pronounces the abbreviation "Rd." as the word "Road" and "Ave." as "Avenue" and "Ln." as "Lane" but for the abbreviation "St." she says the word "Saint". "Turn left at Oxford Saint" .Does anyone else have this problem and do you think the upgrade will fix it? This is over and above some of her other pronunciations that make me laugh sometimes. ciggy
I've noticed the same thing on my Nav system, so it's not just yours. I always thought it would be fun to hear what NavGirl would say if you asked for directions to Saint Street. Overall, I've been surprised how accurate the pronunciation has been, especially with people's last names.
Dingo
I obviously need to turn her back on. I have voice directions turned off, but I would really like to hear her pronounce my street name. It's a Welsh word with 4 of the same letter in it. That's a real Welsh word?
Dingo
It's a town. Google it. I'm just curious how that word even came to a place like this. By the way, I was in your neighborhood yesterday.

How many times do you think the sign painter came back and said "Are you sure this is the right name?". I'm guessing at least 5.

wlepse
Not sure of this but I seem to remember a similar issue with a TomTom I had. I think it had something to do with the fact it had maps of Canada so by default it was thinking certain things were french. I think I had to modify a file to get it to pronounce streets correctly. Maybe there is a setting somewhere for this?? http://www.tomtomforums.com/t17919-340-s-street-names-mixing-french-english.html Edited February 10, 2012 by wlepse
