Robin Bentley
I have had my 2011 Edge for 13months and have had it at the dealer no less than 20 times for the Sync malfunctioning. During the last "update" I was again assured that it was fixed. Now 2 months later my radio is slow to turn on/off, my navigation isn't working. My text messages come in at all odd times when they were sent previously and ignore the NEWER messages that have come in. This is getting very old. One of the main reasons I spent $38K on this vehicle is because of its technology. Technology that malfunctions constantly. I welcome your ideas. Pull fuse 29 to reset it and wait for the new software.
ablb
Not sure the text message problem is a sync problem. My provider provides voice mail and text messages that are a couple of hours/days old at least a couple of times a month. And I’m a very light user of both. ab
Robin Bentley
Thank you for your input. I'll try pulling fuse 29. SYNCMYRIDE customer service tells me to pull the USB card, which I cant find. At least I know where the fuses are! :happy feet:
wlepse
I think they mean SD card and that is in your console by the USB connectors. Some say this has helped for them, but didn't do anything for me. I am with you though...I really bought this vehicle over other because of the technology and now I am kicking myself about that decision. I really hope the rewrite fixes things but I am losing confidence each day.

akirby
How can I follow up and become informed of this re-write and its due date? Read through the most recent threads here. You can't miss them. It was originally scheduled for late January but it depends on the results of beta testing so anytime between now and March. Registered owners will get the update in the mail automatically at no charge. It will include a USB stick with new software (self-installable) and a new SD card if you have navigation. Dawg
Bought my Edge 3 months ago My Stync started acting up and then screen went blank! Can't even listen to the radio! It is at the dealer now and waiting for the call that was supposed to come 4 hours ago. What BS. If I have ti take it in 3 times in a year, which seems likely, I am going for the Mass. Lemon law. LetsTryaFord
I had one replaced...issues returned the next day. Yep, me too. After they installed mine I had possibly a week of zero trouble I've given up on this POS to be honest and close to realizing that within a month (after we receive the new update) that we've all been taken for a huge ride by Ford
Dawg
What virus has taken over these comments? Conspirancy theorists would say it might be the same engineers responsible for My Stynch

richy
I'm not denying there are problems; I've had some minor ones too. However, you make it sound like every single owner out there is burdened with a ton of problems. That is not the truth. There are some who seem to have a lot of problems, and others who have either none or very little. Even if no update came out, my problems are so minimal that I could live with it. It is a great car for a whole package and I have no regrets. Just sharing my $.02. I don't mean to diminish your problems, just pointing out that all are not so. I have owned mine now for 11 months and would buy it all over again. Yes i have had some problems but not enough to make me not buy the car or the MyFord touch System again. I still believe that many of the problems are Human Error. I know that last statement wont make me any friends. As a Certefied Sync Specialist With a Ford Dealer i have the oppertunity to work with customers on the system and do not see half the problems that are mentioned. Enjoy the ride.

Wow...statements like this is what got Ford in this mess to begin with. I am sure some people may have issues with technology and getting the most out of the system, but a properly designed and executed system should not crash or lock up from use. We have had several lock ups and have gotten to the point Ford has requested we remove all devices connected and it still crashes at least once a week. So currently we are doing nothing with the system other than changing radio stations. Even the app I was given by Ford to reboot the system has stopped working. Again...I don't believe all systems are crap but many are and to try to pin these failures on users is just mind boggling. Anytime you would like to see a failing system you are welcome to come see our...just might have to wait a day or so.

Enjoy the ride. like Ladybird, I'm also the Sync specialist here at my dealership and was at the 2 other dealerships i worked for. I, however have seen these issues and have been deeply involved with the system trying to help find problems so we can develop fixes. I can go back into my file and find the original repair order and write-up that led to the first MyTouch TSB. A Senior Master Technician and myself put well over 30 hours into troubleshooting, updating, re-programming, and paperwork. Not that that makes me anything special, just pointing out that i know this system very well. Edited February 25, 2012 by akirby

Ladybird4 was not implying that ALL of the problems were human error. I do know there are a lot of owners out there who just don't like the touchscreen interface with separate menus. Case in point - when my daughter totalled her 2012 Focus we found a used one at our local dealer with 120 miles on it. An older couple bought it (with MFT), kept it for a week and traded it in because they couldn't figure out the touchscreen. Of course the owner's manuals were still shrink-wrapped and they didn't ask for any help after the salesman showed them how to use it. Like I said before - there are vehicles with big problems, some with no problems, most have minor issues of some kind and there is human error. Those are not mutually exclusive. Dawg
Picked up my car. They replaced the "APIM" module. Seems to be working fine and will keep my fingers crossed.
