Feirstein
The passenger side dash had a few marks on it from some new copper pipe. So I took out a rag and some leather cleaner and started to scrub out the marks. Next thing I found is that the nice dash finish is only surface deep; color and all. Now the areas I scrubbed with the rag are darker, with the surface color removed in some spots. It is a 2007 Edge. Other than purchasing a new dash, is there another approach that would restore the look to this surface? (Can't wait for the wife to find out). Find a good detailer.
JOEHIO
I would suggest to go out and by a product called Vinylex by Lexol. Put a few coats on the dash, and after a few hours, wipe down with a terri cloth towel. It should blend in the spots, or like akirby said, get it dyed or painted by a profesional. When my wife got her '09 MKS, I accidentally got black magic marker spots on her pebble colored leater seats. The dealer had a guy come in, her re-dyed the seat and upper door panel. and 3+ years late, all is still fine. Don't ask how I managed to do that, it's a looooong story, a stupid mistake. Theakerr
Any thoughts on the fake chrome on the centre console (2010) model. It also is a VERY thin surface layer
