kasiaru
I recently had a remote car starter installed on my 2011 Ford Edge. They gave me a new key where I have to lock my doors and then hit the car start button twice to get the car to turn on. The only problem is, I'd like to keep it on for more than 10 minutes. First off, is it normal to have the car turn off after just 10 minute. Also, does anyone know where I can find more literature on it. The guy at the dealership just handed us the keys and sent us off on our way without any explaination of the new features!! Thanks
wlepse
If you go through the menu on the left side of the speedo you'll find the settings for the remote start. I think it is under Settings but not positive. But to answer your question yes it is normal to shut off at 10 minutes and I think the max is 15. I think this is done for several reasons...one of which is local/state ordinances about idling. The other is just in case you accidentally turned it on it won't continue until it runs out of gas. When you get into the menu screen for the remote start you'll also be able to set HVAC and other items to On/Off/Auto.
Scorpio
Maybe the settings are different between the US/Canada, but my options are 10, 15, and 20 minutes and you can activate it twice if needed. Adjustment is found under "Setting/Convenience" menu. There are a bunch of other parameter related to climate control you can also set under that same menu.
