goatee
Dealer upgraded mine today. I was just in for an oil change and they told me they got the new program today and offered the install while I waited. It took about an hour or so. Seems nice so far but time will tell. Haven't had the opportunity to test the text messaging function yet. Nav graphics are indeed nicer and the map is nicely updated.
wilsons66604
Well, I've had some time with the upgrade and have noticed that it's still not perfect. The random audio source feature presented itself yesterday. Pandora in my pocket works much better but I think there still needs to be some MFT work around the area of BTaudio. If there is a problem with BT connecting, don't assume I want FM to play instead (at high volume). Voice recognition is still stupid. It still has a very hard time understanding the simplest commands.
goatee
I agree with the voice commands. Just the way you pronouce the word "yes" can really throw this thing off altogether. Never had the issue before.
BluEdge11
I'm not happy with the upgrade and I haven't even seen it yet!!!! I dropped my edge off at the dealer at 11 am 5 hrs later and the dealer can't get it to load correctly. They need to keep it overnight and try again in the morning. I hope this is not a sign of my troubles to come.....
MrHappy
Might be the dealer. I had to educate our service rep that the early 11s needed in-shop work due to a potential compatibility issue. My guess is either that is your issue or they have bad internet and aren't able to download the update properly. Once I had them pull the code from our letter they saw what I was talking about and were off. It's getting done now actually. Did you also get the letter saying it had to be done at the dealer? BluEdge11
I just got a call from my dealer, they are unable to install the update and had to set it back to the original. They are working with Ford to find a solution.. mean time they told me to come get my car. So another trip to get this update. now I'm asking myself is this really worth it? BluEdge11
I read the email from Ford about my car. Basically said they don't have a fix at this time, and are working hard to fix the problem. I recommend waiting a few more weeks till they get this update correct.
SuesEdge
Got our upgrade in the mail a few days ago. It was attractively packaged and the instructions clear. I initiated the upgrade, but it errored-out with a message about possible corrupted files. I chatted on-line with someone from Ford's MyFordTouch help desk, who advised me to do a reset first. After doing so, I was able to then proceed with the performance upgrade. My first impressions are VERY FAVORABLE!. Ford seems to have gotten it right this time. While we were generally pleased with the stability of the system recently (after several updates to the system), it is now much more responsive and the screens look much better. Many of my annoyances have been resolved. In particular: It is nice that the volume controls now permit fine increments, and Indexing of my SD music card is now very swift. Really? Mine still makes big sound level jumps per click and only registers every other one on the level meter. I'll hopefully get to play with it some more this weekend but so far ours is still terrible.
whimsey12000
Mine used to do that as well. When I turned down the speed sensitivity selection that changed. Maybe try that?

Mine is set to 2 so I don't think that is the cause. delldell
That "bugs" site is extremely helpful in seeing what bugs have been reported. I looked at all of them and other information, Thanks!

Sometimes it is helpful but sometimes ignorance is bliss. I think Ford still has a long way to go with this update. Hopefully my reboot 20 minutes in was a fluke and stability will be much improve, then they can focus on getting the functionality to work 100%. JOEHIO
Since my update, I have to admit, everything has improved drastically. Today, my wife tookm out my MKX (yes, I did let her drive it), and her Iphone connected immediately. Before the upgrade, her Iphone would not connect automatically, and sometimes, if you tried a "manual connect", it still would not connect. Just give us the outside temp display back on the center screen.
wlepse
Our phones are connecting instantly too and background noise has improved substantially. Just nice to be able to use the phones again. Now if I can get the BT audio working and get a chance to test the USB HDD. I can live without the BT audio if the USB HDD works and the system doesn't crash. hotheads
I didn't receive a letter or upgrade in the mail concerning my 2011 Edge ltd...Did however receive a letter saying it needed to be brought in for the upgrade... So I dropped it off thinking ,,just a couple of hours.. 2 days later they call me...ready,,checked it before I pulled out..noticed right away,,upper right corner of screen,,where it used to show navigation,,,now shows information....There is no navigation anymore,,even with the new A3 nav card...Dealer said they didn't notice that...huh,,turns out they replaced the apim chip also,,told me that's why it took so long.. So either I have a bad nav card or they put in the wrong apim chip. But they didn't haven any more nav cards to try...anyone have suggestion? Called ford to see if I had anything coming in the mail and they said no cuz the dealer had taken care of it...

Take it back, it's not the Nav card, I guarantee it. There's no replacing the APIM "chip", they either replace the whole module or nothing. Chino Girl
I got my upgrade in the mail on Saturday. I took my edge to the dealership this morning for the upgrade. They accomplished it in just under an hour. I like the new look of the screen. I re-paired my phone and everything seems to be fine. I do not have the nav system but do have Sirius XM which works fine so far.

wilsons66604
I've had a week or 2 with the upgrade and am glad there are some improvements. It is clear that Ford needs to still spend some time with the Blue Tooth Audio. It has it's good times but then it still has some pretty bad times. Touch forgets that it was playing BT Audio when I got out of the car and decides to give me a random source the next time I'm driving. While the randomly selected FM source is playing, I select BT (the button shows I selected BT) but FM is still playing. Once I get BT selected, the on screen controls may or may not work. I have to dig the phone out of my pocket and hit play on the phone. It's improved some but it is still a pain in the ass (and dangerous) to have to pull my phone out of my pocket and control my phone manually. I think the fact that the BT Audio source being on screen 2 of the sources kinda tells you where the priorities were in the design & development. Ford... Bring BT Audio to the main screen! Do I really need to see the CD audio source if there is nothing in the drive? (Same goes for A/V source) Do I need to see USB devices that aren't plugged in? Do I need to see the Sirius source if I'm not subscribed
milosm
I have a problem similar to yours, after I installed the A3 up grade everything worked fine for about a week, and then it took a dump. The only thing that work is the XM & FM, it sees what is playing in the in the two mp3 slots but only the sound from the XM or FM comes through. Same when you press CD and A/V . When I installed the A3 up grade I called it in, and while talking to them I asked for a number I could call if I have a problem. I was told to call 800-392-3673, the sweet young thing gave me a case number and told me to try a factory reset and repair the phone. And if that didn’t work to call their tech dept at 1-800-392-3673, and that they would get back with me. Doug. I've had a week or 2 with the upgrade and am glad there are some improvements. NIKAL
IMPORTANT UPDATE HARDWARE FAILURE! We got our upgraded software in the mail like the rest and did our own install like most have. It took 50min like it stated in the letter and looked different compared to the previous version so we know it downloaded. A week or so after the install we started getting blue screens and auto re-boots. The whole MFT would shut down and it was not consistent with us doing any one thing. Sometimes to get it to restart you would have to pull over and turn the car off and back on. Also the blue tooth was not any better as many have said theirs has been since the upgrade. Ours still sounded like you were in a wind tunnel. The last time it did this blue screen my wife was on her way home from work. She drove right to the Ford dealership to show them. By the time she got there the MFT was working again. She explained that ever since the upgrade we have had these issues and they are more frequent then prior to the upgrade. The dealer was surprised we did the upgrade ourselves and said we should have brought it in. We told them the letter told us to do it ourselves. They checked the system and said it looked like the upgrade did not download properly and needed to be done again. If we had an hour they could do it right now. Now here is where the UPDATE comes in. When they were done they told my wife they needed to do one more thing and they did not have the part in stock and to come back 2 days later. They said it needed a (PIN or PEN) My wife thought they were talking about a PIN # or something. When my wife told me this I did not get it that Ford did not have this PIN or whatever it was. So 2 days later back at the dealer and they had to put this "PIN or PEN" in and re-do the software for again. This time the dealer had their Sync / My Ford Touch technical expert come talk to my wife. Kearney Pearson Ford in San Diego has trained and brought in a specialist who's only job is to work with the customers and explain how the system works, support their Sync/MFT customers. This lady works directly with Ford and the Sync/MFT team. She gives you a business card that she can be reached at so you can call her directly with issues. This specialist said the PIN that was replaced was a Module that is Hardware, not software and that this is part of the Sync/MFT system. She said the dealership has been finding more of these Modules that are intermittently failing. This is not exclusive with the Ford Edge, but with many of the Ford cars and trucks that are equipped with the MFT. She said they have seen handfuls of these modules failing, and since replacing them it has solved these customers issues. It sounds like these Modules are made by an outside vendor and Ford has not pinned down why some are having issues and other are not, it does not seem to be linked to a particular lot or date of manufacture. It has only been 3 days since we have had all this fixed, but since then we have not had one single issue, the phone works 10X better then previously and the system seems much faster. So if you are still having the blue screen of death, or if you are having intermittent re-boots or having to turn the car off and restart to unlock the MFT you might want to go to your local dealer and ask if they know anything about this "PIN or PEN Module" and see if they can test or replace it for you. cv27
..."PIN or PEN"... It's actually APIM (Advanced Protocol Interface Module)
NIKAL
It's actually APIM (Advanced Protocol Interface Module) Thanks! That is must be the part they were talking about. Like I said I had no idea and originally we thought it was part of the software upgrade, until the specialist came out and spoke to my wife and explained that it was hardware.
