cambo
So I am in the process of hooking up a backup camera to my pioneer head unit. I would really like to get the mute function to mute the stereo when in reverse so my backup beeper tones are audible when music is playing. I am however a little stumped on how to do this. Initially, i had the mute wire hooked up to the reverse sensor wire that I had run back to the backup lights. My theory is that it would get a +12v from the backup lights and mute the radio when in reverse. This worked, kinda. For whatever reason it would play the radio in R but mute it when out of R. Why would it do this, shouldn't it mute when it gets power? I guess this function could work by muting the stereo when the mute wire is grounded but then wouldn't it not work at all when hooked up to a the positive source. Any thoughts anyone? cambo
I want to post an update. Found another website that suggests using a 12v relay to flip the signal. Works great now! check out third diagram from the top http://www.the12volt.com/relays/page1.asp
