SaraMocke
I bumped my 2012 Edge passenger side mirror on the way out of my garage this morning. No scratches at all, but the bar of LED's that serve as the indicators/turning signal has been pushed into the housing a little. Fortunately I was driving really slowly when it happened, so everything works okay including the indicator lights and the blind spot indicator and puddle lamp. Is there a way to dismantle the mirror so that I can fix it. If I could just get in there I could pop it out again and my car would look as new as the 10 days old it is! Please let me know soonest. I need this constant reminder of my stupidity to dissappear from my presence. And yes, I'm blonde and I'm a girl, but I do know enough about DIY repairs on bikes and cars to fix it myself. I'm looking for the right advice so I don't end up inventing a solution and breaking something! Dingo
You might be able to get to it from below if you pop out the puddle light...
JOEHIO
Maybe if you could get the "top cap"ection off, you could get to it. Try and Google "how to get of outside mirror cap on a 2011 Ford Edge", see if you get any hits. Edited December 17, 2011 by JOEHIO
SaraMocke
You might be able to get to it from below if you pop out the puddle light... I did exactly that, and the good news is I managed to get it right with a few finger contortions. I also did search on Google and Bing, and found some articles about dismantling the mirror housing, but that seemed a bit more risky and tricky, so I tried taking out the puddle light. It's almost 100%. You'd have to look closely to see the turn signal bar is about 1mm out of position near the driver door, because something is blocking being able to reach in that far. To all intents and purposes it looks as good as news. Thank goodness it didn't have any scratches! Thanks for the tips guys.
