2008 MKX adding HID's

Recommended Posts

So I had bought a couple of HID kits on eBay for the MKX and right from the start the lights were pulsating. I sent them back and bought 2 sets of 500K 55W HID kits from DDM Tuning and bought their wiring harnesses for both sets. What a difference those made. I will not be buying the crap eBay kits anymore. I have the DDM kits on my 08 Pontiac Grand Prix GXP and the wifes MKX. I really like the 5500K white light and the 55w is just super bright. I had to adjust the aiming of the headlights because they were up pretty high and I don't think the oncoming traffic would have liked them the way they were. She loves the car and how well she can see at night now.

I have to get off my butt and order a set. I had DDM's in my last car and they worked great. On occasion one ballast wouldn't light but it was a 55W kit w/o an harness so I was probably pushing the electrical systems capabilities. I hear you on the aiming...right now I think the stock aim is terrible. For some reason the drivers side is actually higher than the passengers side.

  • 1 month later...

you also need to keep in mind that the projectors used in those lights arent the best... and they really do not show what hid and projector quality is all about.... Ive been doing retrofits for about 10 years now, and i can tell you this first hand!!

if you want proper projectors done, then lmk :)

im going to start a group buy on here, if enough interest comes up....
