RDWhite
Not sure where to post this, so hope here is OK. I have a problem, my first. I am a new member! I have a lightly driven 2011 Edge Limited. A nice car until now. I have driven the car about 3600 miles in 13 months. I am retired and have another car, the reason for the low miles. I drove the Edge once today and as always, a great drive, etc. Tonight, I started it up, backed out and put it into Drive and absolutely no power as if the accelerator is stuck on “1 mph”! I noticed an error code, a Yellow Wrench on the left display. I can’t clear it. I disconnected the battery for 30 minutes, but to no avail. Anyone seen this problem before? I will take it to the dealer tomorrow. It will have to be towed as it goes about 2 mph max! Please help! Roger Murphy, Texas

RDWhite
My guess is an ETC problem (Electronic Throttle Control). I guess that means it is "Fly by wire". I wish something got unplugged, but that would be too easy! Thanks! Roger
RDWhite
Had Ford flat bed trailer the car to the dealer this afternoon, The on-board diagnostic said the following: 1. Powertrain Malfunction / Reduced Power 2. What Is Happening? Indicates that a Powertrain or All Wheel Drive (AWD) / Four Wheel Drive (4WD) fault has been detected. 3. What Does This Warning Mean? Powertrain Malfunction Indicator: Illuminates when an Electric Throttle Control (ETC), Transmission, AWD/4x4 or Fuel System fault has been detected. Contact your authorized dealer as soon as possible. So, the service advisor called me at 5:00 and said the car arrived. Hopefully, I will know the verdict tomorrow! RDWhite
I'm still betting ETC...... The verdict is................! Got the call this afternoon saying the "accelerator assembly" is shorted. Replacement is coming from Detroit. I didn't get to talk to the service adviser directly, so I do not know if the APPS failed or some other part of the ETC system. Hopefully, I will be back on the road sometime tomorrow or maybe Saturday. Thank goodness as a backup I have the reliable 2008 F-150. Had 4 F-150/250's over the years and none of them ever left me stranded.. Stay tuned! Roger

It has a sensor that determines how far you've pressed it and transmits that to the computer who then sends the command to the engine to change throttle position. It's just like a video game controller. In other words.........ETC. I win! When do I pick up my prize?

Thought the radio was bad as I could not get any audio from it as I drove out of the dealership, but I guess the tech was playing his smartphone or some device on the radio, as I had to peck around on the display to get it back to normal. Anyway, I am happy! The tech report said: 1. EEC System diagnosis (Quick Test) 2. EEC System Diagnosis Repeat 3. EEC System – Diagnostic Pin Point Test 4. Accelerator Pedal Replace EEC Test, Retrieve DTCS P1575 (Pedal Position Out of Self-Test Range) and P2138 (Accelerator Pedal Position). Perform Pinpoint Test DK. Pinpoint APP Sensor 1 (Accelerator Pedal Assy). Replace accelerator pedal. Clear codes. Roger
