Lincoln MKX Navigation upgrade

I purchased a 2011 Lincoln MKX at the end of 2010. I was asked if I wand to take the standard synch/mytouch system with the phone driving direction capability or have the full blown navigation package. The sales person told me that the basic capability would be more than adequate and gave me a demonstration that was quite impressive. He said that if I was not satisfied with this limited capability I could upgrade in the future to the full navigation capability. I had many problems with the synch/mytouch system and have had the vehicle back at different dealerships at least a dozen times. To make things worse one stay was for 5 days and another for 9 days. Most of the systems now work adequately but the sync services direction providing capality is rottenat best. The voice recognition module is terrible and it is the only means to interface with the direction services module. The even have an operator assist function but it is flawed as well. I decided to opt for the full navigation module since I know you can manually input directional information. I am now told that you cannot upgrade to the full navigation package. Is the lincoln system software that inflexable?? I think ford has really dropped their standards and are using us the general public, as a beta test site. I was told that the ford technical staff was working to allow upgrade to the full navigation package but have since been told by other staff personnel that this is not true. Does anyone have any information about this???

Nope, can't upgrade. The car has to be made to do the full nav. There are many posts about this on this forum.

It's a long story, but the dealer lied about being able to do the Nav upgrade. That is the plan, but due to the problems encountered with MFT they haven't had the resources to make the upgrade package. It's not a technical limitation so it will probably be available sometime next year after the full MFT rewrite.
