Circle3
I own the 2011 Limited AWD with HID lights. US version with no DRL's. When I turn my headlights on I can not see any dashboard indication that my lights are on. There is a blue highlight icon that does appear if I have my brights on. Turn brights off and the icon disappears. On the round headlight switch there is a dimly lit LED that only can be seen in complete darkness. Am I missing something here? My old Ford had a green icon for lights on the blue icon for brights. I guess that is gone? The auto on headlight function is useless. It has to be very dark for the highlights to come on (auto). As previously mentioned when they do come on I am not aware of it. With all the automation in this vehicle I have to manage headlights manually for DRL's and headlights on/off. Comments? akirby
Comments? It's a mild annoyance every once in a while but I don't ever remember a lights on indicator on any Fords or Lincolns I've owned recently. The autolamps on my 08 Edge work just fine. Some people have added a piece of tint over the sensor on the dash to make them come on earlier. I think useless is a bit of a reach. S With the ambient lighting - you can tell if you headlights have come on. They don't work unless your headlights are on. Seems like a silly way to check, but that is what I use. I wish the auto lights came on sooner, or weren't light sensitive, but just came on when the car was running that would eliminate the need for daytime running lights. I wouldn't say it has to be very dark for them to come on though.
akirby
I don't ever remember a lights on indicator on any Fords or Lincolns I've owned recently. Lo and behold - I was driving my daughter's 2012 Focus Sunday night while she's out of town and right there on the left side of the gauge display is a lights on indicator. So maybe this will be a new trend.
cal3thousand
My display dims quite a bit when the lights kick on. Maybe pay attention to the brightness of your dash or nav to see if your lights are on? Dim display = lights on; bright display = lights off.
