rdcox
I recently purchased a used 2007 Edge SE. It only has 30K miles and I got a good deal on it. So far I am loving it but one thing that concerns me a bit is the gasket or seal that is between the windshield and the front of the dash looks like someone (with very skinny fingers) reached down if front of the dash and pulled the gasket up. Instead of being down in front of the dash and out of site a good portion of it now lays on top of the dash. In addition to being unsightly I am wondering if this gasket serves a purpose, like keeping water out of the car, that it may not be performing in its current location. Has anyone come across this before. If so what would be the best way to fix it. Not sure just stuffing it back down between the windshield and dash is the best solution. Feirstein
I too recently picked up an 07 Edge displaying exactly the same issue. Soon thereafter the front window had to be replaced. The shop did not replace the strip and actually left small fragments still attached to the edge of the dash adjacent to the new window. I removed the fragments and all is now OK. I don't know what the issue is with this Ford part and I have decided to just let it be. This, and the need to replace the brake vacum booster are the only issues I have run into so far, (about 7,000 miles). cal3thousand
Interestingly, my coworker with a 2010 F-150 had the same issue. He took it to the dealer and they had to pull the whole dash to replace it. They also had to order some pieces so it turned into a multi-day affair. Just curious, did you replace the windshield because of the gasket issue or was there some other reason you that necessitated it being replaced? I think I will let mine be for the time being as well unless I discover an issue that needs to be addressed right away.
