How do I know if I should have navigation?

This is going to sound a little strange but we had a very new (5 weeks) salesman yesterday and when we viewed the car (2011 Limited) we didn't think it had the navigation system because it wasn't on the screen. But when we went out to the car with the final paperwork the salesman sound a SD card for the Navigation system in the car info. He put it in but it didn't work. He asked his manager and the manager took the stance the SD card was just in there by mistake.

 

At that point it was 9:30pm and I had been there for hours and I didn't think about asking to see the window sticker which they had taken off at that point.

 

This morning I took it out of the glove compartment and the window sticker says I have "Voice Activated Navigation Sy"

 

Now I know there is supposed to be some other turn by turn voice activation system but is the same thing as the Navigation System. How do I tell them apart in the window sticker.

 

Also had something funky happen tonight once when I went to drive home. The touch screen would not come on and the phone and radio would not pair/work. I drove it home and let it sit for about 30 minutes then turned the car on again and all was fine? Is this a known problem?

Do you have the manufacturer's window sticker? It should show it.

You should go back and get that SD card that they thought was in your car by mistake. They may have thought it didn't work when the system displayed an error. That is common with the fickle Touch system.

Have the dealership plug the SD card back in and they should also make sure the Sync/Touch software is up to date.

You may have the same issue I had with my 2011 Edge Limited WITH nav. Even though the SD card was properly inserted, the Nav System was not activated at the factory so it would never work - nor would the Nav quadrant (Green corner) ever show that I had Nav. After convincing the dealer I purchased it from that it did indeed come with Nav (had to produce the window sticker) they enabeled the Nav option through a software update. Worked fine ever since the software update!! If your Nav has not been activated at the factory, the "I" (Information) Icon will be in the upper green quadrant - not the "Navigation" label.
