NatG
Model is 2011 Ford Edge Limited with 301 package. Car works great, but I am curious about the activity when I turn on the front window defroster. I've noticed that when I have A/C set to off (no light, no cold air from vents), and I turn on the front window defroster, the air starts blowing cold (temperature was set to 72 degrees, and it was about 70 degrees out). It feels like the compressor is on to me since the air is literally blowing cold. I turn the temp up to 80 degrees, and the air comes up warm enough to defront the window. So, has anyone else noticed this? Is this by design or does it sound like a glitch? I should note that when I turn off the defroster, the A/C comes on when the air starts blowing from the dash-vents. For clarification, I am not using the touch screen or Voice activation here, I am using the touch sensitive buttons on the lower center stack. Hi NatG. :D Yes turning on front defroster activates the A/C compressor as needed by the system in order to dehumidify the air. This is the design in all Ford vehicles (and while there are exceptions, many/most others also). For more information, this is all explained in the Owners Manual. Good luck. :beerchug:

wilsons66604
Thank you! The HVAC is awesome in the new Edge. I keep mine on auto at all times. One of the best features was recognized this past month of 100+ temps. When I get in the hot car, the AC kicks on full blast and blows COLD air NOW! AWESOME!!! The system is very capable but MyFordTouch interface sometimes interferes.
