teagueda
Both admin keys set off the alarm when activating a remote start and most disabling options fail to stop the alarm until the car is turned off and restarted and at that stage panic by pressing lock, unlock, etc until the alarm stops. Both keys behave the same. What's going on? Anyone have the same problems and the car is 6mos old.
teagueda
Apparantly, you have to unlock the car to disable to alarm first then press the lock button once then the start button twice.

Mine works as described in the manual. Lock, remote start twice. Should be no need to unlock doors first
baum
Do you have a dealer installed remote start or aftermarket?/ or is it truely a factory installed? If dealer or aftermarket they forgot to hook up a disarm wire.
teagueda
The dealer installed a perimeter alarm system about 3 wks after we purchased the car. I'm pretty sure the remote started as per the manual instructions and then failed after this. I'm assuming it's a factory add-on?
baum
So the remote start came on the vehicle from the factory and you had the dealer install the alarm?? if this is the case i would be willing to bet the alarm is seeing the ignition turning on (when you remote start it) so its triggering the alarm. teagueda
And what would be the fix?
baum
in your case i dont think there isnt one sorry... somehow you need to not let the alarm see the car running on the remote start. in your case thought the factory remote start in built into the computer so you cant defeat it. even if you can "shunt" the ignition during remote star then you have to bypass the perimeter sensors to not pic up the vibrations. i would take it back to the dealer and tell them to fix it (or try to). their scan tool wont tell them what to do so im pretty sure they wont be able to do anything about it. good luck
teagueda
That's what I did - had the dealer remove the perimeter alarm and now all back to normal procedures as per the manual.
