Noise From Hatch Area, When Hot Outside

Recommended Posts

I have a 2007 Ford Edge. When it gets extremely hot outside (75f and above) I get a loud noise from the rear hatch area. I have checked the spare tire area and everything seems tight. Sounds more like loose panel trim. Has anyone experienced this problem?

Bumper has been known to deform slightly in extreme heat. There's a thread here somewhere about it.

I'm just throwing out what I've heard due to heat. Maybe that's causing some related issue?

The plastic cover over the bumper was loose. I was able to tighten the two 5/16" hex head screws. They had backed off a couple of turns each. They are located on the top corners of the bumper cover.

Well, I thought this solved the problem but it didn't...I now suspect it could be the interior door skin on the rear hatch. Any ideas how to remove this panel?
