scott60
I bought a 08 Edge a few weeks ago and the AC didn't seem to be right. I returned to the dealer and they replaced cabin filter and sprayed antibacterial in the vents. This fixed the bad smell but the performance still sucks. It takes forever to cool down the inside. The vent just to the left of the radio has very little air coming out, even on high fan. The air is cold on auto or manual and the fan seems to be full speed. I'm not sure if this is normal but it takes twenty min to get cool inside. Has anyone seen this problem. My 02 Ram gets cold on the same day in the same conditions gets cold in five min Ak I.e. hunter306
I've heard a couple of people mention being disappointed with the AC, normally the fix is to clean out your Cabin Filter from what I gather. Since you already had the truck to the dealer to take care of the cabin filter, I wonder if something is disconnected inside your dashboard? The reason I mention this is because the left side duct that runs up next to the radio on my Edge was not properly clipped into place-- which meant I had a fairly loose fit between the supply duct and the duct that runs up to the dashboard. If you pop the trim piece from the radio off, and then remove the radio unit, you'll be able to see these ducts (both left and right) to verify they're properly clipped into place. Also, I noticed that if I close the rear vents (obviously not an option if you have passengers) you will build a bit more pressure in your system. That was purely unscientific, but no reason to leave them wide open if you're not carrying passengers. Just some thoughts. On mine, I've been impressed at how quickly I get cool air-- but I will agree that you don't quite have that pressure that I've come to expect from some of the other rides I've had. If the system is just not cold, but blows plenty of air, check the refrigerant pressure. The car is 3 years old and might need a small recharge. If the pressure is not low, you might have another problem such as the thermostat or a dirty valve.
blockisle9
If it needs to be recharged doesn't that meen there's a leak? My 08 is so so, but every car I had since the change from R12 has been so so. I use to be able to form frost on the windows of those cars. I was told the new gas's need more air flow, that's why they work better at highway speeds.

My '07 works fine. I agree it doesn't seem to have the same 'blow your hair back' air flow, but I just crack all 4 windows for a couple minutes and within 5 minutes or so @ 60*, it's not cold, but it's comfortable and still cooling. after about 15 minutes on low I'm bumping the temp up eventually to 70 and it maintains a cool environment. It's been in the mid-90s here by the time I leave from work; no issues as far as I'm concerned (oh, plus I have the black leather...makes for a hot seat for sure). Somewhere on this forum someone suggested opening your glovebox...worth a shot I guess...

A good sunshade will save you at least 5 of those 15 minutes of cool down with black interior. http://www.fordedgeforum.com/index.php?/topic/7780-intro-tech-ultimate-sunshade-review/page__p__61808__hl__intro-tech__fromsearch__1&do=findComment&comment=61808
