cherry7up5666
I have a 2008 ford edge and the usb port just stopped working all together. It won't charge or connect to anything, I have tried a few different ipods and a thumb drive. I thought the issue was with the usb cord I had so I bought a new one and that did not help. I also tried removeing the fuse associated with the usb port and that did not help either. The fuse is still good too. I also know the audio connector still works. I also removed the center consol panel to make sure nothing was loose in there. Is there anything else I can try before taking my car to the dealership to have it fixed? The EXACT same thing happens to me with my 08. Sometimes my ipod will play and then it just quits for no reason. I too have changed fuses, connector cords, and trying to update the software with a usb download. When I put in the thumbdrive in the port it didn't see it. Of course I hesitate to try it when my ipod is working. It will start working again with absolutely no warning and play again for a while. My local ford dealership was unable to come up with anything except a bad fuse, but it happened again after I changed the fuse. Please post if you find a solution. Thanks. abu-iyad
Try to change the usb port ... after a while the metal things in the port may be too bent away to come in contact with the thumbdrive thing - do to prolonged usage - may need change or just take it out and squeeze it back again by hand or any tool ???? just a stupid idea that came to mind <<<< iam noooo expert !! This happened in my 2011 Edge SEL....right before the whole system stopped working. I am not sure if one thing as anything to do with the other but it seems so. People seem to have luck with pulling the fuse to the Sync system and essentially putting it through a hard reset.
cal3thousand
I have an issue that I feel is hardware related similar to your USB issue. Occassionally when shutting my center console, I get a *ding* and the Nav says "SD card fault"... and Nav is not available. I have to pop the SD card out and back in to get it to work. Anyone else seeing this behavior?
specialk4523
having this same issue now on my 2011 edge... any resolutions????
macbwt
Based on what i am reading no one has bothered to replace the USB in the consol yet? Anything that gets used on a daily or almost daily basis is sure to wear out. I am sure this usb connector is a plug and play replacement. Most likely even a DIY project.
