Time to move the system to an Edge!

Recommended Posts

Just picked up a really nice 2010 SEL with the regular 6 disc radio and no sub. Been moving my system from vehicle to vehicle for a long time (Explorer to F150 to Taurus). System consists of an Alpine single din, two 6 1/2 fronts, 2 silk dome tweets, one 10 inch sub and two amps. Everything gets crossed over in the Alpine. Small sub box is just gonna sit in the back. Just wondering if there is anything I need to look out for.

Is there a remote amp in my Edge?

Metra or scosche dash kit look better?

Good location for the tweets?

Is there any way to get the steering wheel controls to operate with my Alpine?

You might find some of the answers you're looking for in my thread.

Specifically, I'd recommend that FD1432AB Dash Kit from Scoshe (includes a Pocket if you're only doing a single din unit).

There is no remote amp in the non-premium (no sub, no premium audio).

Steering wheel controls can be retained with the Metra Axxess Kit. It's way better then the alternative... Immediate button response specifically.

Thanks a lot for the info Hunter! Your post has some really good pics that will help me with my install. Looks like my old (2003) Alpine 9813 does not have the ability to interface with the steering wheel controls but I can live without them. It does look like I can run an adaptor cable off the back of the Alpine to the factory auxillary port which will be kinda cool. Your pics show me that there is a ton of room to work in the Edge's dash once I remove the panel and stock radio. I think this is gonna be a really easy install!
