2006GT
Great write up! I just did my wifes this weekend. Everything went well with the exception of the Steering wheel adaptor. Won't work. I have a support question off to PAC for that ... I didn't not hook up the VSS wire yet... Which one is reccomended??? 1) By the PCM? If so, which harness is it in? 2) Driver side/kick panel bundle along with the ilumination and reverse wires??? Thanks for your help guys! Got it... The reverse, vss and ill. wires are all in the the same bundle on the drivers side as pieced together in the previous posts. Also, anyone installing the PAC SWI-PS (Steering Wheel control adaptor) Please note, you must use the 100 Ohm resistor (brown, black, brown) and also ground the blue with white strip wire in the pin 19 slot of the harness or the interface will not work. It doesn't mentioned that in the instructions... Got everything installed last night. All is working good! redsvt2001
Does anyone know which is the vss wire on the factory navigation harness behind the radio? Thanks in advance
Lex Talionis
The backup cam:Installing the backup cam wasn’t difficult but it requires a good bit of time. I mounted the Kenwood camera up under the area where the rear hatch release button is right next to it. That panel where the rear hatch button is located is removable and makes installation much easier. To remove this panel, you have to open the hatch and pull off the interior trim. The trim will pull off by hand. It’s held on with several cheap plastic push-on connectors. Just keep yanking gently all around the piece and it comes off. Then you’ll see the nuts that hold the panel. Remove the nuts and compress the two plastic “pins” at either end of the panel and it comes out easily. From there, it’s pretty straightforward to mount the camera and route the wire through the existing harness. It did take me some time to fish the wire through the factory rubber “tube” connecting the hatch to the car. But it’s doable. Ike.. can you post a photo of the camera and its mounting? I would be very curious to see this mount location.. Edited May 2, 2008 by Lex Talionis

ike
Here is a pic of where my reverse cam is mounted. Above the license plate is where the license plate lights and hatch release button is mounted - inside a black plastic trim piece. The cam is screwed to this black plastic trim piece. It fit perfectly there: Edited May 20, 2008 by ike
Lex Talionis
interesting.. not what I thought at all. I realize I have a 2008 versus your 2007 and my hatch release button is in that newly changed hatch cutout/handle. in that new cutout the little button is centered in between about 8 inches of total available space, so I was thinking yours was mounted up in that new hatch handle area and aiming down and off to the side. that s how I will/would do mine (if I ever find a mini LCD I am happy with). thanks. I see. I didn't realize they changed the area where the hatch handle is. I'll have to take a look at a 2008 to see what they did.
cjbates
Has anyone heard of or used the FDSR wiring harness from Scosche? If I just have the basic factory stereo in my Edge (no Audiophile subwoofer, RSE or THX II option) does this harness do much for me over a cheaper harness like the FDK11B? What I'm hoping it will do for me: Make connecting to the VSS, Parking Brake, reverse light and illumination wires easier Provide easier connection to the steering wheel controls adapter allow for an overall easier, plug & play installation Also, does this come with the antenna adapter and the Dash Kit? Or do I need to purchase those separately? (I would assume that they need to be purchased separately except that the Scosche press release announcing the FDSR makes it sound like they are included.) Thanks in advance. This is a great forum.
securinu
yes you can it makes it simple but you can get them all inside as well and save the money. we sell the harness and antenna and kit and stock them if your interested. We also have the steering wheel control as well.
spontaneous02jg
Ichi your vss can be found right in that same bundle of wires. Brown / green twisted with blue / orange Which wire is it exactly? The Brown / Green or the Blue / Orange. I don't want to connect the wrong one. fraychild
Which wire is it exactly? The Brown / Green or the Blue / Orange. I don't want to connect the wrong one. Bringing back a dead thread - but for those who may still want to know this - If you're tapping into the Driver Side Kick Panel for the Ford Edge VSS Wire, you must tap into the Brown/Green wire... This Brown/Green wire is twisted with a Blue/Orange wire. Just make sure you use the Brown/Green wire for the VSS. Also, for Illumination, I just tapped into the signal wire from the Hazard Light switch... It's a Dark Brown wire, it lights up the Hazard button when you turn on the light switch... It's right there and easy to tap into! Now this thread could go cold again...
