Edge Fan
I ordered a 2011 Ford Edge Limited AWD on March 2nd. I hope to be a new Edge owner but now I'm not so sure. I called my salesman today to check on my VIN. He ran a Scheduling Results Report which had the following entries for my vehicle: Orders Not Scheduled Dir Prty: 1 Order Source: CONCEPS Source - DOE Reason: G26 - Plant Constraint 4 WHL L/H FULL TIME DRIVE ( DR-F ) G14 - Production Week Full G12 - No Reg. Allocation-Feature AWD/ 4X4 ( OBC91 ) G10 - No Dir Allocation-Feature AWD/ 4X4 ( OBC91 ) Does anyone know what all of this means? I called the 800 number my salesman provided - he suggested I call the Customer Relationship line as I might be able to get answers from them better than he could. Called the number and felt like they were blowing me off. Said their records show the vehicle is in processing and they didn't know anything about any problems with producing the AWD. Can anyone provide any insight?

blankster
Your constraint is AWD. I believe you build will be pushed to 2012 models begining in July.
Edge Fan
Does anyone know of an official notification from Ford on an AWD delay? My dealership doesn't seem to know anything about it. I guess I find it odd that Ford is not notifying anyone - the dealership or the customer.

Check out the link below...Ford production updates...looks official to me and confirmed by my dealer when I picked up my Edge last week. Link originally posted by computerdude60 (thanks). Edge updated on the AWD in the link was around March 11th. I know because this is what prompted me to call my dealer for a VIN 2 weeks ago. Edge Fan
Thank you for the information. I got a call from my salesman late this afternoon and he finally received a confirmation that Ford was no longer producing the AWD. So........ he spent some time searching other dealerships in the southeast for an AWD (I don't want to wait for the 2012). Based on my specs the closest match he could find is in North Carolina. I currently live in Florida (where no one needs an AWD) but will be moving late this year to the midwest. Looks like I'll be getting an AWD after all although it's not exactly what I wanted. The options on the vehicle in NC are a little different than what I had ordered, one difference being the 302A package (I had only ordered the 301A). Can anyone tell me if the adaptive cruise control and BLIS are worth the difference in price?

Of course I still check when changing lanes but after driving an Escape for years the Edge has a larger blind spot so the BLIS really helps. In Canada the adaptive cruise control is a $1500 option. I do not do a lot of highway driving so could not justify the spend. Do you know if the Edge they found for you is a Job #2?

john747
I'd be surprised if there were many Job#1's still sitting on lots. I still see quite a few Jobs#1's in dealer inventory. Dealer stock pickings for Limted AWD are slim. Job #2 started around the end of January and from what I can figure, VIN ending lower than A80000 are Job #1. I guess there could be some still sitting on lots... but Edges average about 27 days on a dealer lot... so... I'm guessing they are getting scarce. Maybe in your area there's still quite a bit of older cars. What is the difference between Job #1 and Job #2? I haven't see a definitive list of the changes between the 2 Jobs, but "less noisy" mirrors have been confirmed by observation.
john747
What is the difference between Job #1 and Job #2? I think we are all trying to figure this out. The only obvious change is a redesign on the mirrors to correct wind noise issues. I'm sure there are other minor fixes/corrections/enhancements that will enventually be discovered but Job#2 would desirable if you had a choice. You're right about the Edge getting scarce - at least the AWD is. I have spent hours on the phone tracking one down with the specs I'd like to have. Have basically burned through Georgia, South Carolina, North Carolina, and now have a dealer checking Tennessee and Ohio. Maybe I should take this as an omen. I'm not having much luck. Seems like each time I find one "it was sold yesterday" or "we traded it to another dealership this morning". Ugh! The Ford dealership here in Orlando said he is pretty sure the incentives that expire Monday will not be coming back. If the pickings are getting slim then they don't really need incentives. They pretty much sell themselves.

My options were BLIS, Navi, Tri color White, HID...My Edge will be Job#2 Serial B19000...something like that...lol Good luck in your search! Found an Edge Limited AWD in North Carolina. The dealership is working with me to get everything taken care of by Monday before the incentives run out. $4,250 in rebates/incentives will go away if this doesn't come together. I've never purchased a vehicle long distance before and it's a little nerve racking. Right now we're trying to figure out the logistics of getting their vehicle to me (without putting 500+ miles on it) and my trade-in back to them. Edge Fan
I'm am finally SOOOOOOO happy :hyper: to say that I am now a new owner of a beautiful Tuxedo Black 2011 Ford Edge Limited AWD!! My Edge was indeed delivered to my front door bright and early Saturday morning and in perfect condition. The dealership in North Carolina was awesome to work with and made the out-of-state purchase a great experience. I have spent the weekend learning everything I can about the vehicle and how things work, in addition to showing it off to my family. The Edge is a dream to drive - I love it! If anyone reading this forum is thinking about owning the Edge all I can say is GO FOR IT! You won't regret it!!
