Audio option for 2009

Recommended Posts

I am looking to put an audio system into my 2009 edge se. I haven't had an aftermarket audio system since I was in high school. I want to keep the factory head unit and I don't think I want to put in amps or subwoofers. Therefore, does anyone have any recommendations as to what I should do? I believe I can install the door speakers on my own so is there a new place online to buy some really good quality speakers? I want to keep my budget below $400, or even lower if possible because I am going to try and save on installation costs. I have an audiobahn amp still left over, but would I need one to power just the door speakers or would the factory equipment handle the power requirements. Overall, I am pretty confused at what I want to do. I just want some quality sound and I am not really looking for any heavy bass. Please, if anyone has any recommendations, let me know.

Also, if I were to buy speakers online, what type of speakers would I need?

Thanks.

Start with the door speakers. Crutchfield.com is a good reference. Your door speakers are standard Ford 5x7/6x8 size. These would be a good choice:

Start with the front doors, then the rear doors (could go cheaper with the rear doors since they don't add much to the overall sound quality). Then add a separate amp after that if you're still not satisfied, followed by a sound processor.
