Instrument Cluster Questions

On the instrument cluster, the small lcd screen to the left of the speedomoter, under settings/vehicle settings/vehicle there are two options on which I need clarification.

If I set the Oil Reset to say 75% does that mean I will be notified when I have driven 75% of the owner's manual recommended oil change distance since the reset?

There is another option titled Menu. The options are STANDARD and MEMORY ON. Could someone please explain.

I was unable to find either topic explained in the MyTouch or Owner's Manuals.

Thanks

When your oil is changed, the Oil Reset is set to 100%. This reflects the oils life.

As you drive the car, it will decrease. The manual says this about warning message:

CHANGE ENGINE OIL SOON — Displayed when the engine oil life

remaining is 10% or less.

Standard or Memory On? we need more info.

What area of the menu are you seeing this?

Good morning,

I just has an oil change on my 2011 Edge and I went to Jiffy Lube. My Oil Reset did not set back to 100%. It still reflects what it was before the oil change? It's that normal?

It's perfectly normal because the jiffy lube technician did not know to reset the oil life indicator. It doesn't reset automatically because it's not actually measuring the oil itself. You have to reset it.

It's not just an issue with techs like Jiffy Lube. After I had my 1st oil change at a Ford dealer, the first thing I checked was if the oil life was reset to 100%. It wasn't and I did it myself. Not a big deal. Next oil change I will remind them to reset it.

For the most part, I don't think that they think about resetting the oil life thingy. The Ford dealer that we dealt with for 17 years NEVER did a reset. Our Lincoln dealership always resets it, just part of their policy. I have my Explorer serviced their now, too, and they reset my oil life, so it's not like Lincolns do it, and Fords don't, it's just up to the service departments procedures.
