LALarry
One of the climate features I use frequently is the "Recirc" mode. When driving in traffic and following a smoke belching vehicle, or someone who is smoking and hanging their cigarette out the window, hitting the Recirc immediately shuts out the offensive odors. On the Edge, it appears that the Recirc mode times out after 5 or 10 minutes. In previous vehicles (most recently a Mini Cooper, and a BMW X5, the Recirc mode doesn't disengage unless I told it to. The OM says "Recirculated air may turn off (I love that...MAY turn off) in all airflow modes except MAX AC to reduce fog potential. Huh? I really notice the exhaust and other bad air coming into cabin and have to hit the recirc button. Does it turn back to fresh? I never payed attention. I wonder if it makes a difference if system is set to Auto or not. (I'm and ex smoker and construction worker that had his fill of diesel exhaust. It doesn't smell as good as it used to ) :glare: Edited March 4, 2011 by wilsons66604
LALarry
It does disengage! Perhaps only in the manual mode when I'm just wanting outside air venting into the cabin.. but yeah.. check it out..
richy
You don't want it on for too long anyway as you don't want to breathe the same air again and again.
LALarry
Ran a test today. Hit recirc while panel ventilation was in manual mode. After 5 minutes, recirc went off. I hit it again and this time it remained on for the duration of my commute (another 15 mins). So, I've now answered my own question.
ahammet
In my old car, the recirc would automatically switch on the the car stopped (say at lights). Then at about 20km it would go to flesh. I really miss this functionality.
