jmironcow
I picked up my 2011 Edge Sport AWD two weeks ago...love the vehicle, tinted the windows, however, the My Ford Touch is having serious problems. They are: • USB sync with device takes over 30 minutes to index • Touch screen takes time (5 seconds to 3 mins) to recognize • Sync screen does not “sync” with dashboard “Entertainment” screen I’ve had the truck in the dealer for the last week for service. I’ve tried two Zunes, V1 30GB and V4 32 GB HD and both take 30 minutes to download and index, while nothing can be touched on the screen. The Service Manager pulled his Droid phone, and the Sync system recognized it within 2 seconds and started playing immediately. Yes, smaller HD with 32 songs, however, it recognized it on the touch screen and “USB” on the dash. Both Zunes are up to date from the Zune site, but yet it still does not work. Last week, I was on the “live chat” with Ford, the recommendations were to do a Master Reset, check, and pull fuse 29, check. Neither has fixed the problem, so I had to bring it into the dealer. All updates are installed, as the truck was ordered immediately after Christmas. Any recommendations out there? The USB skips some when playing music, and also if you push “next” on the steering wheel, the dash shows the correct artist/title, however, the touch screen shows the older song artist/title. Looking for any support, to get rid of this small rental and get my Edge back.
Edgieguy
Check which version of MFT/SYNC you're running. That might be your problem right there.
jmironcow
Checked the latest version....so far, has been at the Dealer for 4 days...tried to pick it up today, still had the same problem. It is locking up where nothing can be done, including: -rear camera wont work with put into reverse -touch screen locks up -cannot function any radio/Sirius/USB or CD -NAV does not work, states that i need to install SD Card, when it is in slot completely. After restarting the car 3 times, Sirius/USB stutters and does not play completly through an entire song.... Aoll of this done with dealer Service Manager in the car....stayed at dealer for another week. So, purchased the car 01 Feb, has been in the dealer for 6 days of the 19 days of Feb. Anyone else? Edgieguy
I know there's a module that controls all of this. There have been bad ones out there. As far as I know these can't be swapped between vehicles because they're coded without the individual vehicle VIN number. Maybe your dealer has ordered one already? Victor Wolansky
It looks like you should ask to get the car replaced if they can't fix it, and get them to pay for a loaner and the first Month of your lease or loan if you didn't paid it in cash.... So far, you do not have a car yet... Why you should pay for it.

When I put an SD card in my Edge it took a very long time to index it -- several hours and only seemed to index it while the system was active (rather than when the vehicle was idle, which would have been nice). Things were slow when indexing and, for example, Sync wouldn't recognize anything I uttered. Once the indexing was done, everything functioned as expected. My music collection on the SD card is about 10 megs. I'm guessing your Zune collection is much larger...
