pbmitch
When I shift my Edge out of park I hear and feel a slight click in the gearshift. Does anyone else experience this? I'm wondering if this is normal operation or if I should have it checked out.
Scott-o
When I shift my Edge out of park I hear and feel a slight click in the gearshift. Does anyone else experience this? I'm wondering if this is normal operation or if I should have it checked out. I've been experiencing the same thing with my wife's edge since April. I would also like to know the answer to this question. I always thought it was normal b/c of the type of shifter it is.

pbmitch
Thanks for the helpful replies. The link to this issue seems to have answered my concern. Most likely just the lock/unlock feature of the transmission gearshift.

pbmitch
My Ford dealer just replaced the whole gearshift mechanism yesterday. They agreed that the clicking/crunch noise made while shifting out of park was not normal. The replacement shifter feels more solid and is silent.
