WINGSNHL
Yes where is this TSB located. I been searching and can not find anything on it! I got the TSB # from my FORD dealer
bink19
You know where I can view this TSB at? They replaced my mirror with one from an Edge they had on the lot and the noise seems to be gone. Only problem is they did not hook it up correctly as I cannot adjust the mirror left or right. When I push up it goes down and down goes up. Dealer ordered me a new mirror and put it on the vehicle and now the noise is back since the one they replace the original on would not allow me to adjust it. Asked about a TSB and they said there was none for my vehicle concerning this issue. The noise now is not as bad but still noticeable. If anyone can get a copy of the TSB that is mentioned in this thread please post so I can take to the dealer.
Dreamss
Same here, also looking for a copy of the TBS bulletin so I can present that to my dealer. The wind noise I get while driving is starting to drive me nuts. If I don't have the music on to offset the noise (which even at that doesn't always work unless it's loud), I can't have a nice peaceful drive without hearing a damn whistle. Going to the dealer to put my summer tires back on soon and want to have this addressed while I'm there. I stopped counting how many recalls and problems I've had with this "thing" so far, this is ridiculous already.

I stopped counting how many recalls and problems I've had with this "thing" so far, this is ridiculous already. I called my dealer yesterday and they found the TSB. The repair I believe is they put a piece of rubber or foam into an access door underneath the mirror I believe. This prevents the wind from going into a space on the mirror and out which makes the whistling noise. My car is going in this morning for the repair. This TSB was just posted 2 weeks ago so some dealers may need to search again.
bink19
Dealer made the repair based on the TSB and wind noise is completely gone.

curlysir
See my other topic for Ford's solution. I read that solution but that would require me to buy a new edge or new mirrors , whereas the TSB appears to fix existing mirrors with weatherstripping or foam. blankster
I read that solution but that would require me to buy a new edge or new mirrors , whereas the TSB appears to fix existing mirrors with weatherstripping or foam. The TSB is for a certain range of production where others have experienced a problem for the last 2 or 3 production years. The mirror redesign addresses that issue. oldbob1938
Whistling mirrors are not a problem for the Ford Edge alone. The Infiniti EX35 has a similar problem. There isn't as much about it on the web, but then there are fewer Infiniti EX35 owners.
nextime
Found out the issue in my Edge. It is the weatherstrip on the top edge of the drivers door where it hits the back door. You can see it does not seal 100% and the inner door seal is loose and is not glued down like older cars. I imagine if the inner seal was glued down the wind noise will be gone. Theakerr
Very interesting Nextime. I will go out and check mine today if the weather is not too bad. I did find that the door seal was not "plugged: in at the bottom of the drivers door. By plugged in I mean one of those little thingies (great technical term) that is attached to the seal and plugs into a hole in the door to hold the seal in place. It is now plugged in and I think some of the noise is gone, but I am still getting a lot from the rear of the drivers side door. I am also becoming suspicious that some wind noise is coming from the upper front area of the windshield.
nextime
Yeah when you are driving try to stick your head up to the top corner of the door, if it like mine you will hear wind noise.
msmeg678
Below is a copy of the TSB I got from my dealer. WHISTLE NOISE FROM LEFT HAND SIDE EXTERIOR TSB 11-2-13 MIRROR WHILE DRIVING AT SPEEDS OVER 64 KM/H (40 MPH)—BUILT ON OR BETWEEN 7/12/2010— 12/22/2010 FORD: LINCOLN: 2010-2011 Edge 2010-2011 MKX ISSUE Some 2010-2011 Edge and MKX vehicles built on or between 7/12/2010 and 12/22/2010 may exhibit a wind whistle noise from the left hand (LH) side exterior mirror while driving at speeds over 64 Km/h (40 MPH). polonius
I have experienced the same driver side wind noise issues and have had those resolved (added foam at the mirror base and blocking airflow that was getting in between the driver door and the A pillar), but I am curious if anyone has had this additional problem. There is a whistle (sounds very much like the wind noise whistle) coming from the A/C vents at speeds higher than 45-50mph. The whistle stops when the fan is left ON, but the A/C is turned OFF. In all other combinations (cabin air recirculate, MAX, system (including fan) completely off) the whistle is present. There is no correlation with outside wind conditions (e.g. this happens on very windy days and very calm days) Ford has not (yet) been able to identify the issue. I suspect a baffle somewhere in the A/C system is not fully closing and the air moving across the gap is causing a whistle. This is a 2011 Edge SEL
nextime
Mine is in service right now for the wind noise and this other TSB 11-03-07 Rear door popping noise. Original TSB for the pop was 10-14-1.
jbergstrom5
I have a 2011 Ford Edge and my dealer in California (Hansel Ford) almost had me convinced that the wind noise was a normal. I had taken the car in two times for this annoying noise. They almost got rid of me until I found this forum. I took the car back for the third time on 6//21/11 and now the dealer tells me I can pick my car up on 6/27/11, however they were unable to repair the noise. Now their solution is sometime in late July the roaming Ford representitive will look at my car. He is too busy to see the car any sooner. I had not purchased a car since 1994, a Mazda Navajo, same as a Ford Explorer and it was quieter on the day I traded it in than this Edge is now. I wanted to do the right thing and buy American, I now feel like I just spent $40,000.00 for a car I could have had at 1/2 the price, and been satisfied with. While Hansel Ford has had my car I rented a 2010 Kia Sorento with 19,000 miles on it, nice, quiet, the electronics don't measure up to my Edge's, but no annoying noice. If anyone has found a fix please help, the dealer already put the foam in the mirror per a TSB, and now they just want me to live with the noise. I spent a lot of money on this car and I think I deserve one that is without flaws. Thanks for any advise that anyone can offer. In my case, the wind noise came from several sources: 1) The windshield was not fitted flush. The dealership actually had to order a replacement windshield. 2) The foam issue for the side mirrors as described in other posts. 3) The evaporator case was cracked. This was the last source of the 'whistle' wind noise (only at higher speeds and only with certain configurations of the A/C) and took months and several trips to the dealership to identify. Since the replacement of the evaporator case at the end of April, the cabin of my Edge is finally "quiet".

Was your dealer able to troubleshoot these problems or, as in my case did they require you to wait until your car was examined by a "roving" ford fielld represenative Edited June 30, 2011 by jbergstrom5
polonius
Was your dealer able to troubleshoot these problems or, as in my case did they require you to wait until your car was examined by a "roving" ford fielld represenative The dealer attempted to trouble shoot multiple times over about 6 months and found the issues with the windshield and mirrors. They also figured out the evaporator case after I collected a lot of observational data when the "whistle" occurred (what speed, outside temperature, outside wind speed/direction, configuration of the A/C (cabin recirculate on/off, A/C on/off, MAX on/off, etc)) and after they spoke with an offsite Ford engineer. They did call in a specialist at one point ... that might be the same as the "roving field representative". One other piece of information that could be helpful: There was one other problem with my Edge; air was getting in between the door and the frame and escaping from the seal at the A pillar (at the top, by the driver's head). This fix was similar to the side mirror fix (adding foam) and was done at the same time.
LetsTryaFord
Mine is a 2011 Edge Limited AWD, 25,000 kms I've found that if you turn the fan on full and gently tap either the drivers or passenger windows to open very slightly the noise will become evident You don't have to have the car in motion so leave the vehicle and the noise seems to be worse on the outside. Press on the window from the outside and the noise will stop...!!! Not sure what the fix will be but obviously its a window seal issue
GeneBopp
Mine had a noise that kinda sounded like a wind noise. I spent a lot of time chasing it myself. I found that what sounded like an air leak around the front edge of the front window was actually the parts number tag blowing in the wind on the front strut coil spring.
