Hi kenjan. :D Several options off the top of my head: Check with your local Ford/Lincoln-Mercury Dealers, local Speed Shops or Collision Repair shops for wheel repair specialist recommendations in your area. Or try Googling "automotive wheel repair" and look for reputable repair companies. It is extremely difficult to give any sort of price estimate, since we can not see the extent of the damage. In some cases, it may not even be possible to satisfactorily repair the damage. I would start with trying to get a referral from your Ford-L-M Dealer/Dealers or local Speed Shops. Then hopefully you can get a few estimates and proceed from there. Let us know how you make out. Good luck. :beerchug:
ablb
Greeting and welcome Did you damage the plastic? We had one of our 08 chrome clad wheels repaired this summer by NTB. http://www.ntb.com/ http://www.ntb.com/Locations/ill/chicago It was cracked and would go flat in a little less than 24 hours. Much less time while driving. Cost about $250.00 out the door versus $800+ tax from Ford + balance, mount, stem, etc. Good luck ab

Here are a few, in order of likely high to low pricing: Your Ford or other local Ford/L-M Dealer, online Ford parts sellers such as Team Ford Parts Online LINK: Team Ford Parts Online, Silver State Ford Parts LINK: Silver State Ford Parts, local Salvage Yards, etc.. The online Ford Parts sellers may not even have the 2011 parts in their online database yet, so you may need to call them for priding. And although I understand your frustration, there is no sense in beating yourself up over your choices or second guessing the wheel construction. In reality, if you hit or scraped something hard enough to damage a chrome clad wheel, it would most likely have also damaged an all-aluminum wheel. Something else to keep in mind: Not sure why your Dealer stated there would be a charge for the TPMS. The old TPMS sensor would only need to be transferred from the old wheel to the new wheel and it would likely not even need to be reprogrammed. Keep us updated. Good luck. :beerchug: Edited December 31, 2010 by bbf2530

bbf2530
Hi kenjay. :D Since you stated in a previous post that you have the chrome clad wheels and the plastic was damaged, I assumed you have the "chrome clad" wheels with the chromed plastic overlay. If that is what your Edge is equipped with and you are wondering if the plastic overlay can be replaced separately, to my knowledge the plastic overlay is not replaceable. Good luck. :beerchug:

radicon
The exact same thing happened to me the first week I owned my 2011 Edge with the chrome cladded wheels. The cladded part can not be replaced by itself. I have the tire guard warranty but it covers the tire and wheel if it was damaged by a road hazzard. I struck a concrete curb as I was parking and scrapped the tire and wheel. This is excluded in the tire guard warranty. The dealership wants $800.00 plus to replace just one wheel. OUCH!! I checked with a wheel repair service but they can not fix the plastic part. If the wheel was a solid metal wheel such as aluminum or magnesium, they could have repaired it. Now I will have to try to find one through Ebay or Craigslist. I might just get brand new 18" wheels as suggested above later this year. The scratch is not too bad so I can live with it as long as I don't think about it to much. It is just frustrating as I had the 18" painted wheels on my 2008 and used the exact parking spot at Costco for 3 years with no problems. The first time I parked with the 2011, SCRATCH!!!!!!!!! I am going to try to make some calls to find out WHY they make an aluminum wheel with a chrome plastic hub cap that is not replaceabe and WHY the one way to replace it cost over $800 any Answers??? maybe somone on this forum works for Ford an answer will be given
dan_man
I was in the same boat - had to have one of my 2011 Edge 20" chrome-clad wheels and tire replaced, which were damaged when I ran over roadway debris (a transformer from a halide street light, but no way to track where it came from). It punctured the tire and bent the rim, including the chrome-clad plastic overlay. I took the damaged wheel to four different wheel shops (NTB was one of them) and was told that they could not repair the chrome-clad wheel because the heat used to repair normal aluminum or steel wheels would melt the plastic overlay, and that they could not remove and replace the overlay. They said a lot of the manufacturers are going the chrome-clad route, the reason being chrome-clad wheels reject brake dust and dirt better than the normal chrome wheels, but I assume the truth is that they're just cheaper to manufacture. I couldn't find the same wheel anywhere but Ford, so it was $800 - grrr!!! At least the damage was covered by the comprehensive portion of my insurance as opposed to the collision portion, so my deductible was less. I also wanted to ensure my rates wouldn’t go up as a result of the claim, and was told by my agent that if the insurance company (State Farm) had to pay out less than $1000, my rates would stay the same. Luckily, it came in a little less that that after my deductible, even with the $800 wheel, a new tire, mount/balance, and an alignment. They used the TPMS sensor from the original wheel. I could have gotten the tire a little cheaper from Discount Tire, but since insurance was covering it I just had it all done at the dealer. In addition to being lighter they won't pit over time like real chrome. I'm not sure if they're really cheaper to manufacture - they might be but I don't think that was the main reason. kenjan1970
WOW the dealer wants $739.00 pluss tax and $85.00 to mount any better ideas
radicon
I did the same thing and talked with my insurance agent. Since the damage was caused by me running into a curb and not by running over a road hazard on the highway, I would have to process the claim on the collision part of my insurance instead of the comprehensive part. At this point I am just taking a wait and see attitude. One can not notice the damage to the wheel unless you are looking at it at close range. Since the damage is on the drivers side front wheel, I have to make a point to not look at the wheel each time I get into the Edge. Otherwise I will beat myself up about a stupid silly mistake. $800.00 can be spent elsewhere for the time being on more important things. mitchjs
if you damaged the front (outside) of a 2011 wheel, even if u didnt touch the plastic part... it cannot be fixed!! when they heat the metal to straigten, it would ment the plastic crome... course u could have a straight wheel, if u dont care what it looks like i know, i killed 2 of them when a creek bridge collapsed in, and made a massive sink hole... bent two wheels... lucky for me tires ok, since they cost $800each...i filed insurance claim m Edited April 25, 2011 by mitchjs
cal3thousand
The 18" Chrome Clads are available on eBay for $250.00 ... I've seen a take off set of 20s with tires for $1,500 as well. Be patient and watch eBay, it will definitely pay off versus the stealership route.

Impossible to repair a chrome clad rim that is damaged. Replecement is only option at the cost of almost a grand. I know just now going trough this. You can purchase aftermarket at HH Wheel and Rim. towney
Dinged my front passenger side pretty good the other day and Ford Dealers are wanting $921 + $50 core charge. Nothing on ebay and the only place I could find online was $840 total w/ delivery. Anyone else know of a better option to find one? FYI~ Here is the part # BA1Z-1007-B Here is link to online ford parts I found. 20 inch rims Update: Did a online salvage yard part search and was able to find one $425 inc. shipping from a salvage yard in AR in perfect condition. This might be the best bet to find one cheaper then $921. Edited July 20, 2011 by towney
