revOevoM
This press release (link) dated 12/29 has all the info. In a nutshell... SYNC® Destinations is a free smartphone app that gives SYNC Traffic, Directions and Information (TDI) users mobile access to search for and save destinations to their cloud-based SYNC Services account for easy access when back in the car. I have not tested it yet. The iOS version sez it works for iPhone and also with iPad wi-fi and 3G. I have an iPod Touch, so I'm not sure if it's compatible. I'll test it out later today. Also available for Android devices... Blackberry forthcoming. edit: The app does not load to an iPod Touch - is not compatible. pdf version of the press release attached Sync Destinations App.pdf Edited December 30, 2010 by revOevoM
fathead
Thanks for the heads up. I just downloaded the Android version. While the reviews of the app don't leave me to optimistic, at least it appears to be a step in the right direction.

wilsons66604
I installed on my iPhone. It seems to have the traffic info working. I've yet to test the integration with favorites and the Edge. Check this out. The app is disabled when moving ... http://a.yfrog.com/img610/6906/lzizt.jpg
revOevoM
I installed on my iPhone. It seems to have the traffic info working. I've yet to test the integration with favorites and the Edge. Check this out. The app is disabled when moving ... Uhh... yeah... that was mentioned in the original press release. Also specific to SYNC Destinations is a 5 mph lockout feature, which automatically halts the app from running on a smartphone once it is detected to be traveling in excess of 5 mph, helping drivers stay focused on the task of driving. richy
Is this another US only feature?
chetlet
MMy directions have never worked, always says it fails to download, then randomly gives directions to a place I tried to get to 24 hours ago, with no way to cancel the route. This neat little Pp will just be another way for me to not use the TDI
wilsons66604
So, for what it's worth, I added some favorite addresses from my contacts on the iPhone. In the car, I connect to Services via voice. Say "directions" then say the favorite name. Destination slowly downloads. I guess it may have a use at some point. The traffic is pretty slick. Real slick on the iPad (kinda buggy tho)
tolendal
Of course it is, it requires Sync’s TDI. I expect every additional app will be US only until and if Ford is pressured enough to provide Sync services for Canadian vehicles. So is it available in Canada? Travel Link is not. Thanks
