Mikerose
I received my new 2011 MKX at the beginning of November and love it. For the first month I was driving around with my NAV and thought it was quite odd that in a 2011 vehicle the system didn't speak street names on a programmed route. Even the cheapest Garmin & Tom Tom's have spoken street names today. Well last week I had the famous SYNC update done to my vehicle, received it back after 3 days and everything is much better. So I'm driving on a programmed NAV route and all of a sudden it announced a street name to turn onto, I was in shock. I got excited that now I have spoken street names after the update. However much to my disappointment, it only does it very intermittently, and announces the upcoming street name to turn onto maybe 10% of the time, I can't figure out what prompts it to announce the name at the certain few times. Most other times it just says "Right turn ahead" instead of "Make a right turn onto Baker street". Anyone have any feedback on this? Does someone have spoken streets names all the time? Tulsa
I'm still a newbie as I've only had mine for five days now but I can't recall it missing giving me the street names at any time.
mleber
I'm still a newbie as I've only had mine for five days now but I can't recall it missing giving me the street names at any time. I have had mine for 3 months and the NAV does speak street names most of the time. I wouldnt say that I use it every day, but about once a week. It is strange how it sometimes selects the names vs. road numbers and sometimes nothing. In south florida the streets are really well documented on all systems out there and this one as well. Sometimes it will say turn left on FL401 (example number) and then on a return trip it will say turn right onto glades road. No rhyme or reason that I can see but those are the same streets at the same intersection, I was just going different directs on the approach to the intersection and then it just picks a name (correct one). It is a nicer system than my old 2007 BMW.
