trockli
Hi, I wanted a trailer hitch option on a 11 Edge limited. The dealer told me that this option also includes a transmission cooler. Is this really true?

rwolson
I copied the Trailer package info from the Frod Edge specs PDF found on the Ford Edge site. You need to dig a bit on the Ford Edge site to fidn the relevant info instead of jsut clicking a link with a list of package options. Class II Trailer Tow Package includes hitch receiver, larger radiator, upgraded cooling fans, wiring harness with 4-pin connector and trailer sway control (3,500 lbs. max.) trockli
So, it has a larger cooling radiator AND a trans cooler radiator? I'm guessing that a standard Edge does not come with trans cooler?

I'm guessing that a standard Edge does not come with trans cooler? The next time you see an Edge in the grocery store parking lot slide up underneath it and follow the tranny lines and see if there is a small cooler (looks kind of like a heater core) within their path to the radiator. Waldo
The Edge uses a "combo cooler", where the transmission cooler and A/C condenser are all the same part. The top half is the trans cooler and the bottom half is the condenser. So all Edges come from the factory with a trans cooler, but unless you really follow the lines, you would never notice it. sargejos
I'm working on my Wife's 08 (not AWD, no towing package), and it does have a separate trans cooler. It was readily available at the local dealer, and he didn't ask a lot of questions, so I assume that it was standard, at least in '08. I've removed the bumper cover and can hold the old cooler in my (drenched with tranny fluid) hands, so I know I got the right part, but I cannot disconnect the lines. I've got the usual fuel & AC line tool, but the lines have a swaged "bump" close to the connection that prevents me from getting the tool on. Any thoughts?
