Shanana498
Hello, My Low Pressure Tire Light is on in my 08' Edge. I had someone check the tires, 2 were about 5lbs low. All are now at recommended levels, light still on. Drove the vehicle for 2 days, and light still comes on when vehicle starts up. Can I take this to the tire place that put my new front tires on last year or does it have to go back to Ford? I don't believe there is anything wrong with the tires/rims, but don't want to take a chance. Looking for help as I don't want to incur a large service charge from Ford for something I may be able to reset myself (BTW, resetting on the info system of the truck did not work). Any help, greatly appreciated - Thanks.
Waldo
What does the message center say? Does it say "Low tire pressure" or "Tire pressure system fault"?
ablb
Greetings and welcome If resetting on the ifo sys didn’t work then it sounds like one of your TPMS transmitters (located in the wheel) is defective. Big bucks at Ford and they’ll keep your car all day. A little cheaper at Discount Tire, NTB or probably “the tire place that put my new front tires on last year”. ab
Shanana498
What does the message center say? Does it say "Low tire pressure" or "Tire pressure system fault"? It just says "Low Tire Pressure" and the indicator light stays on. Thanks for replying.
Waldo
It just says "Low Tire Pressure" and the indicator light stays on. Thanks for replying. Yep, then as ablb says it's likely a defective sensor, or more likely a sensor that was damaged when the tires were replaced.
akirby
You might want to have someone else doublecheck the tire pressure. There is a slight possibility the first person didn't check it correctly or had a faulty gauge and you might actually still have a tire with low pressure. Thanks, I bought a tire gauge and checked the pressure myself... they're all at 35lbs now and light's still on. I suppose I'll have to make an appt. with the dealer. I appreciate the reply. Be sure to check them monthly at least and any time the ambient temp changes a lot. And don't forget the spare.
