2007selplusedge
Just picked up a used 2007 edge sel plus. I noticed on the way home the backlight on the radio didn't work. Then I tried the steering wheel audio controls and they didn't work. I also couldn't find the satellite radio button on the radio either, even though there is an antenna. I am guessing whoever had it before sold the upgraded radio and replaced it with the standard one before trading it in? Can anyone help comfirm this? Thanks! baum
if you got it from a dealership i would tell them to take care of it. i believe there is a law that they have to include a 30 day 500-1000 mile warranty. The backlight could just be a bulb out, but IMO its not worth changing. sat radio is part of the "bands" of the radio (am/fm/sat).

Your buttons on the radio should look like the diagram below. Also, you toggle through the AUX button for LINE IN, SAT1, SAT2, and SAT3 (if equipped). carbonedge+
Okay, that means you have the single disc unit which (for all else) functions just the same (if properly equipped). You might try checking fuses if you haven't already. Oh, and as for the satellite radio, I'm guessing the subscription has probably lapsed, but if you press the AUX button to SAT1 (or 2 or 3), it will give you a screen message to call SIRIUS and display a phone number as well. You just have to watch a few seconds for it to display everything. Edited November 18, 2010 by carbonedge+

carbonedge+
I would be guessing at this point (disclaimer). Question, do you have the puddlelamps on the bottom side of the mirrors, and if so, do they work? There is a fuse for 'backlighting, puddlelamps". The radio has 2 fuses, so maybe one of those controls the steering controls for the radio and it's backlight???
2007selplusedge
Fuses were good. What should I try next?

carbonedge+
Your best bet would be a dealer. I'm not sure what else to suggest. Did you buy it from an individual, used car lot, or dealer? It be nice if you could get some history on it. There is a link in a post that will allow you to pull the original window sticker using your VIN. That may tell you if you have the same head unit as when new. Since you don't have the 6 disc changer, I'm assuming you don't have the premium audiophile system with the sub in the back. the window sticker would list that if you did. Sorry I couldn't be of more assistance.
hndacr
Your first thought is most likely correct. The radios/nav units in these vehicle require vehicle specific programing. Maybe the original owner took his radio/nav unit with him and purchased another radio off ebay prior to selling. If your new radio is not programmed to look for your steering wheel controls or the correct illumination information, it will not work correctly.
