tpm419419
If by chance it is not part of your vehicle description on your paperwork but the salesman told you it was, I would record a conversation with him. Colorado is a one party state which means you can secretly record your conversation. Hopefully he will be honest with you Good luck
Waldo
If it says "Information" in the green bar on the top right of the screen, you do not have Nav and can never get Nav. But I'll take your A5 card...
tpm419419
I thought those cards were married to each vehicle, cannot be swapped ??
akirby
I thought those cards were married to each vehicle, cannot be swapped ?? Ā Nope. The software that activates Nav is tied to the vehicle but not the sd card.
coops
Thanks to all of you for the fast responses. My paperwork does not say "Navigation". I guess my strongest defense is, why would the salesperson give me he card, if he wasn't saying it had Nav? We will soon see how honorable the dealership is. Thus far - we have two new vehicles from them in two years - they have been good. Again, we'll see. Thanks again for the input. akirby
It's possible it was a honest mistake. But if it does not have Nav then you can take it back or at least get a discount since that was obviously part of the deal. No other reason to get the SD card. coops
I do believe it was a mistake. But it was a feature my wife was looking forward to. I'll post an update, after I speak with them. I'll also get the current lowdown on possibility of upgrading.
good2Bking
I have a '13 Edge SEL w/ non-nav MFT. Dealer is indicating Nav can now be added to non-nav Sync/MFT for $1295. Ouch. Not sure what such an upgrade entails; probably s/w and perhaps a module swap also, but at that price ($400 more than $895 factory price) the $150 Garmin or a Smartphone suctioned to the windshield is lookin' pretty good. akirby
Haven't heard of an official Ford product for that - it could be an aftermarket unit that just uses the mft screen. See if your dealer can give you more details including part numbers.
good2Bking
Apparently this is something relatively recent. My sales guy wasn't even aware until he checked with the business mgr. It's Ramp Ford in NY. I'll see if I can get more detail, but at that price point I won't be pursuing it further for myself.
akirby
That sounds a lot like that aftermarket system that was self-contained and just tapped into the display.
TWHansen
Any updates on the MFT Nav hacking? I mean, it's a computer, it's been on the market for five years in this configuration, every vehicle has the bits & pieces to make it work, surely there must be a way... akirby
Nope. The flag isn't in the MFT software.......
tpm419419
Good2Bking, I have been going to Ramp for many, many years. Always did the right thing by me

macbwt
It would be nice to be able to install navigation into the MFT. It seems that Ford has not made this MFT upgradeable. based on some of the previous information. I guess I will just keep using my Garmin. You can either send me your APIM and I will upgrade it or if I have the correct APIM on hand I can send you a direct replacement. Ā I don't take it apart....I program it to match your vehicle and add OEM navigation. Edited June 20, 2015 by jmr061
trickington
I just installed the kit from www.4dtech.com to add navigation to my 2011 Edge. Works awesome and I did not need to send my old module in. Decided to purchase from them because of the warranty and coupon code I found for $50 off (ZJG8MNVPEDG). Not sure if it can be used multiple times but it worked for me.
dieselnewt
Hey friends! Newer member, first post! I bought a 2011 Edge Sport a little over a month ago. I love it. After doing some research on this thread about navigation (which it did not have) I was a little heartbroken that I may not be able to get it, if it wasn't factory equipped. Well I found the original window sticker, and it said the car was equipped with options package RapidSpec 400a, which includes voice-activated navigation. Last friday (9-23-16) I took it to the dealer for a scheduled oil change. I told the service department about my issue. The first guy told me "well, it may not be factory equipped, and this one just doesn't have it". I showed him the original window sticker, and that it matched my VIN. He said they would "take a look at it". A little while later, a technician came out, and said he was done changing the oil. He also said that he had done some looking, and that my car actually WAS originally equipped with factory navigation, and that he was going to "reprogram the whole system", but it was going to take an hour to an hour and a half. I told him i would wait. About an hour and a half later, he came back and said "you're good to go man!". Boom! Just like that! I got in it, and sure enough, the green "information" tab on my MFT screen now said "navigation". Dude even put in the new A7 maps SD card. My car is under warranty, so it didn't cost me anything for this work, which I know won't be the case for all of you, but I'm hoping that my experience with the issue will help some of you gain insight as to whether or not it can be done. I can't explain why the navigation was just missing from my car, but I am very pleased with it.
