I called ford and asked if they had any complaints with the back up camera they said no, So I said here is your first one. Not so good for a $47k Vehicle 2011 ford edge limited
samskudd
My back up camera has blacked out. I pulled the fuse, let it sit, and plugged back in...problem solved.
DistortedEdge
My back up camera has blacked out. I pulled the fuse, let it sit, and plugged back in...problem solved. Did the rest of the Sync system die along with the camera? That happened to me last night. Fuse pull required to reboot the system. The number of problems with the Sync are ridiculous. I'm not at all pleased with it. To the original post - My camera blacks out for about a second or two a few seconds after it turns on. Annoying, but doesn't really impact function. Yours blacks out and doesn't come on at all again? Considering how many things you need to pull the fuse on Sync to fix, it would have been considerate of Ford to put the fuse box someplace where you don't have to get knees on the ground and twist and contort your head and hands to get into the fuse box. Initially, the quality is poor then after a few seconds I've noticed it switch into a higher quality mode and looks great. It acts like it has some kind of dynamic iris that works as reliable as the My Touch system

I've had my 2011 Edge Sport since the 22nd of October and I've had to pull the fuse to reset Sync/My Ford Touch almost a half dozen times. The backup camera picture blanking out when the menu overlay kicks in seems to be an early warning that it is time to pull the fuse. It comes on when the car is put in reverse, is on for a few seconds, then blacks out and doesn't come back. If I ignore this, the next step is that the backup camera picture may begin rolling, if it displays at all. Or the system might become even more unresponsive than usual with a partial lockup or even a total lockup. I'm not happy about this, either. And, I totaly agree about the placement of the fuse panel. It makes me want to wire a reset switch in from the fuse panel to under the dash with the number of times I've had to crawl down to open the panel and pull the fuse. At least we can be grateful that it is the last fuse at the bottom of the column, so we don't have to count up or down in the column. -steve

Steve, I'd actually considered doing the same thing!
Operation760
Happened to me today, in the rain, 2x. It happens about once a week over-all.

Not so good for a $47k Vehicle 2011 ford edge limited My cam clarity improved dramatically after I put on the NuSheild screen protector. I notice a lot of hesitation in the rear cam, it doesnt flow. HESITATION...like the rest of the MyTouch system...ARE YOU HEARING THIS FORD MOTOR COMPANY!!!! ITS 2011 WHY DOES IT TAKE 4 MINS FOR A NAV SYSTEM TO WAKE-UP. Loading???? One thing that really drives me crazy about this system.
Tgmassey
I am experiencing the "camera unavailable" notice on my 2012 Edge SEL. Any updates available for this year vehicle?
Larry Bush
Tgmassey, mine went out the other day. I had been having problems with an occasional outage of the camera, then 3-4 days ago it goes out completely. I had researched the topic and even contemplated buying new camera. Then, last night out of nowhere, it comes back on. I dunno, it's strange. I too, have a 2012 Edge Limited. I wish this can be fixed easily. What fuse is pulled, anyone?
