2010 lincoln mkx - Steel wheels??

I have a 2010 Lincoln mkx with 20 inch wheels. I want to put on snow tires and was looking at buying p235/65/17 winters.

Tire rack suggests this size for the mkx. The problem I am facing is I want to put on 17inch steel wheels. Does anyone know if they will fit??

I am getting mixed opinions. I spoke with one Tire shop today who told me that 17inch steel wheels will not fit and that I would have to go with either alloy 17's or 18 inch steel rims. He advised that the ford edge can wear 17inch steel wheels but not the mkx. Does the mkx have larger brakes?? I thought that the edge and mkx were almost identical and am confused as to why they would fit the edge and not the mkx. Any info would be appreciated.
