cpeacox
Driving my son in our 2007 Ford Edge this morning and the engine completely fails without warning on the freeway going up a hill (very dangerous needless to say). Had AAA tow us to the nearest dealer. Apparently the Powertrain Control Module is defective and needs to be replaced. Guess what, there's a nationwide back-order of 3 weeks for the part!!! It's covered under the "emmsisions" warranty, but there's no freeking part available?!?! My wife is in the hospital with our second child and her mother just flew in from out of town for 3 weeks and this was supposed to be her car to help take our other child to and from school, get groceries, go to the hospital, etc. I called corporate to see if they could do anything for me in terms of getting the part sooner or authorizing a rental car. "sorry, there's nothing we can do for you" was what I got from Ford! For a company that claims to have great reliability, surpassing Toyota....that's a complete farse, just an advertising gimmick. Trust me, I'll never buy a Ford again. My Toyota has never cause me a single problem. Figured we'd give the US automakers one last shot and they blew it! Ford is as bad as they ever were in my book! P.S. a notionwide 3 week backlong on this part sounds like I'm not the only one. Should be a recall on this!!

I purchased my 2007 Edge for the same reasons- to drive my child safely here and there but I have had nothing but problems with it! I was curious if when your Edge's engine failed if the dash read "ODO ERROR" and all other digital readouts were little dashes -------- ? I've had this occur to me several times only to be told that it was an alternator (my dealer wants $900 to replace) of course not covered under warranty. They have had my car for 4 weeks and they are still saying Feb. 11th. I have to pay rental car expenses out of my own pocket. I've opened a case with Ford Customer Relations which is proving to be pointless. There should be a recall!!! We need to talk ... I'm calling a lawyer. Im not totally surpised to hear about the many others having same/similar PTU troubles. It is troublesome, however, to know Ford is doing nothing in good faith to remedy an issue they know damn well was coming - ringing true to Toyota's form.
