wilsons66604
My new 2011 Edge's key FOB is too sensitive. I keep my keys and fob in my from jeans pocket. Too many times i have inadvertently set off the alarm or popped open the lift-gate. Just last night I left the restaurant to find that my rear lift-gate had been wide open long enough that the interior lights had gone out. Other times, my neighbor would call me to let me know it was up. I checked the setting for disabling the power lift-gate but that just disables it if I try to open it by hand. The car alarm is more frequent because it only requires on push. Last week, I came out of a restaurant to my car alarm going off (pretty sure I was to blame) Does anyone know of a option to disable those buttons on the fob? or... How about a some kind of sleeve that will make it harder to accidentally push the buttons

I haven't had any problems other than remembering to grab the fob out of my bag if I am just running in to drop off/pick up my daughter where I don't need my purse. "Man Bag" That ain't goin to happen I know that you really envy me for not having to carry one. I have noticed that it only gives me a problem when wearing jeans. Dockers are baggy enough to where it's not an issue. JEEZ

I never had the issue with my Camry fob The fob we have for the truck is way not touchy so never had any issues with that either, but then there is also a bulky key and the fob and... so it didn't in jeans pockets anyway. Lucky for us it is coat season most of the year so there are usually an extra pocket to leave it in. May be able to report on snow/ice driving tomorrow... wilsons66604
I may have come across a solution for the sensitive FOB problem.
choff1138
I may have come across a solution for the sensitive FOB problem. goodness - couldn't you at least take the crappy symbol off it? Yep- it was 27 on the way to work this morning and definitely some ice, but never felt the wheels slip or anything. Snow is in the forecast for tomorrow, we shall see. Yep - and every morning I go out and look for the Russian's and ask them what they are doing if I see them. - Actually Sarah is really very nice - just a little to Alaskan for most people outside. (lower 48 is called outside)

Platinum White
Wear a shirt with a pocket and USE the pocket to hold the keys.
wilsons66604
I could also leave the fob in the car and use the buttons on the door...that sucks
AXCL
I'll second your request as this has happened to me as well. Luckily just the alarm a couple of times and not the gate. That would suck! I thought I did it once more last weekend when getting in the car at a mall. My wife and I split up and said we'd meet back at the truck. I had just got in and sat down when the alarm went off. I was sure i pressed it in my jeans, but this time it was my wife watching me and setting off the alarm...Just make sure its not someone with the other key messing with you ;-) What would be ideal is just a little switch that disables the buttons...like the lockout switch on some ipods....Challenge accepted! I'm going to make one. In the mean time, if you just want something semi permanent, just pop open the FOB, lift up the rubber and place a piece of paper or tape over the copper ring for the button(s) you want to disable. (tape would work better, but you'll need to clean the pad when you want to use it again)
