CavalierErrant
Anyone else having this issue? Just picked up a new Ford Edge 2011 Limited the other day, and both the Sync and Sirius Sat radio subscriptions are problematic. The Sirius Radio subscription has successfully activated providing both audio and traffic overlays within the onscreen navigation application. However the remainder of the Sirius package is unsubscribed (weather, sports, gas prices, ski reports, etc) - even though I'm supposed to get 6 months free. I spent an hour with Sirius tech support who feels everything is working successfully from their end. They suspect a Ford issue. The Sync has not been activated at all. When I connect up to sync, I just get the demo voice which ultimately tells me I need to activate the service. I've created my online account and used the same cell phone number - but I just can't seem to get the sync service to work. On the Ford SyncMyRide forum, several other folks seem to have the same problem. Ideas? Anyone else finding the same problems? CavalierErrant
Another odd thing, is although the Sync features do not appear to be activated (all I get is the demo voice when connected), I CAN successfully initiate and then read online a Vehicle Health Report. I would assume this health report uses the standard Sync connection.
3-mer
I am having the same problem. Sync said to call my dealer and have the unit "Reflashed" I am not sure what that is? Sirrus says it is a Ford issue. My dealer thinks the two are releated and said the "Reflashing" will not solve the issue? I am eally confused. 3-mer
Brought it in today for the reflash. The dealer said the it would not update, he had a message from Ford. He is now waiting for a new software release before reflashing. Not sure how long that will be.
rjmccarty
I have the same exact issue - none of the Sirius Travel Link services will activate. I also spent over an hour on the phone with Sirius - they sent an activation signal several times without success. I have been in touch with my dealer, and they want me to bring the vehicle in to have their folks work with Ford/Sirius to solve the problem. I suspect there is a software bug in the Sync system and that it may require an update from Ford. Either that or there is some special "trick" to get Travel Link to activate which isn't documented. The reflashing also seems to be an issue - I managed to download a Sync update, and tried to install. It would not apply. This is just one of those things with new software, there are always kinks to work through and the early adopters get the privilege of helping to find them... :yup: I'm anxiously awaiting a fix/solution. I have had it to 2 dealers and both will try something and then say they are waiting for Ford to give them a fix. Why waste our time with trying to fix something that can't be done until Ford gives them the fix. I am waiting for some sort of cable now to come in, so who knows what this will do. I have pulled the fuse, no luck. It will continue to dial the wrong number until they fix this issue. Lincoln is having the same problems. wilsons66604
The Sync services have worked for me from the start. I'm not sure if the dealer activated it or not. Called Sirius to transfer my subscription from my 2008 Edge to new 2011 AWD LTD. Spent about 45 minutes on the phone trying to get Weather and the "upgraded" Travel Link services to show as subscribed to no avail. Call center rep at Sirius spoke with her supervisor and said they were aware of the issue and it had been escalated. I should expect a call back in the next few days (sounds optimistic to me, so I won't hold my breath). Being a techie and programmer for a living I appreciate the bugs associated with early adopters of technology. While it is frustrating, I hope they get it - and my iPhone 4 tethering working soon! Hope springs eternal!

JOEHIO
Makes me think I should hold off a bit before ordering the MKX. My wife's '09 MKS has been great since day 1. One thing I will miss, is not having the built ninn hard drive to "load down" CD's. Some of the CD's did not have gracenotes, am able to manually add album titles/songs/artisits with the MKS. Oh well, modern technology can bite us in the ass!

ijjcford
I bought my 2011 Edge a few weeks back. It is a SEL with MyFord Touch (No Navigation). My Android phone pairs fine but when I went to use the Sync service I only received a demo. Ford phone support said it was dialing the wrong 800 phone number and I was told to take it in for service. I took it to one dealer and they flashed it and nothing changed. I then took it to another dealer last Friday and they were able to make it work. Only afterwards the backup camera did not work and was not even installed. Sirius was working but only displayed through the steering display and not the main display. I took it back the next day and the tech found out that after flashing he had to re-install the apps using a USB stick. Now I had the back up camer working and sirius was back in the main display. When I tried Sync serverices it dials the phone nmber and then my system reboots itself. I'm planning on waiting until Ford come out with a update hopefilly in November or December before I take it back in. I still really like the car and the MyFord Touch! Cheers, Cav Hey Cav, Just came back from dealer here in Cleveland (go Cavs....forgot they still suck) anyway, I had same problem...partial activation of Sirius. Service guy showed me an e-mail that was broadcast out to Ford dealers....it's a software problem from Sirius (according to Ford) that Sirius is working on. I had a 2010 Edge Ltd w/nav and all the bells...that system was so much easier, problem free than the new one. I understand that things aren't perfect, and bugs need to be worked out. but I thought these bugs were worked out this summer with the delay of the release of these units. My sport was built on July 13 and released on October 10th! My wife works for Ford and I spoke to a couple of "insiders" that the said off the record of course, that they were going back into each already built unit and reprogramming or replacing the software that was originally installed. Regardless, Ford knows of the problems and is working on the fix. I would stay in touch w/your dealer and make sure that you included in any updates that may come out so that you can get your vehicle in for the fix. Ray4Ward
Don't get me wrong. I love my new 2011 Ford Edge. But we got some issues here...... :stats: I was so impressed I traded in my 2008 Edge for the 2011 Ford Edge Limited. My 2008 Ford Edge worked flawlessly with my current android phone the Sony Ericcson X10. So, I expected even greater things from my new 2011 Ford Edge Limited w/ MyFordTouch. Not! There is a definite problem with the bluetooth media streaming on the MyFord Touch side. The phone does connect for phone calls (only), but NOT for MEDIA STREAMING such as PANDORA , or media music files etc via bluetooth. My vehicle was in the shop for 5 days with my Android Cell phone to see if a fix could be found. Without the bluetooth media stream functions you are unable to enjoy a complete experience with the 3 years of Sync Services that Ford provides to new owners. I have not been able to use these services as since I bought the vehicle on November 1st 2010. The hardware/software engineers at Ford, Microsoft and Sony will have to coordinate and go back to find the missing link with their bluetooth connections. There should be not be problems with these two Sony products streaming from my Sony Ericsson X10 product to the Sony Sync System. My phone and 2008 Sync System worked absolutely perfectly in my 2008 Ford Edge before Sony even got involved. FORD should fix the problem & compensate services for those 2011 owners that must wait for a fix. Although the software is not allowing bluetooth media streaming (But strangely it does allow phone calls via bluetooth). As a temporary fix I am using a Motorola T505 bluetooth with my Sony Ericsson X10. The T505 works just fine going through the FM frequencies with media streaming and to make phone calls. Although because I am using this device there is no voice recogntion capability. For me this is only a temporary fix for my media streaming until Ford comes up with a real fix. The bluetooth issue is contributing to Sync not working along with another problem that is added insult to My Ford Touch / Sync injury. I called Sync Services to advise them that my Sync Services were not working. They advised me to check which ph# Sync was dialing. They said it should be dialing this number not that number (Gave me 2 Phone # to look for). I checked the #'s Sync Services provided.....it was neither #'s Sync Services provided but a "3rd" # showed on my cell phone. I called Sync Services back. They stated that I need to take my Edge into the dealer to re-program the correct ph#. The dealership knew nothing about this because there has been no Technical Bulletin. The Sync operator advised me that "Well you gotta consider that this is a different system". Both of these issues effect MyFord Touch Sync Services. I expect a higher standard when upgrading to a newer $50,000 plus vehicle. I called the Ford Sync Services hotline again.... They assured me that the Ford Sync Engineers are working on these problems and that the MyFord Touch Sync Services start date will be delayed until a complete solution is found to these problems for 2011 Ford Edge owners w/MyFordTouch systems. I believe that the profesionals at Ford will resolve these issues and hopefully soon. Cross your fingers! (FYI: See syncmyride.com community site for more on this issue. On the Ford Sync Community I am Ray4Ward). Hopefully we won't have to beat a dead horse.... :beatdeadhorse: 2011 Ford Edge Limited 3.bmp
radicon
I use a Blackberry Storm 9530 and have it paired up to Sync with not problems. Phone, bluetooth audio all work. When I tried the travel link service for the first time I too got the demo voice. I then went to syncmyride.com and updated my info. I deleted the 2008 and added the 2011. Then I went to the sync travel link and setup my destinations and sports that I wanted. Since then the travel link service has worked correctly on the 2011 with no problem. Maybe this will help. But No....., Thanks for the advise but I tried all that..... :car: My car sat in the shop for 5 days along with my cell phone. The dealership could not figure it out why the two Sony products could not work completely. Too many are having a problem with this. Maybe Ford should provide the phone(s) that work with sync when you purchase the vehicle (Not the phone service). Just an idea. I wonder what the difference is with bluetooth and the 2011 Ford Edge compared to the 2008. The same phone worked great in my 2008 Ford Edge SEL. Did your contact photographs load via bluetooth to your Sync phonebook as well? I mean bluetooth should be bluetooth...right? Does anyone know if there is a difference in bluetooth from one phone to another? Are there different levels of bluetooth or something? Any techies out there know? :hyper: Oh and by the way ... If you haven't checked out this app.... It can help you from losing your cell phone..... www.myoutlook.com This free app locates your phone using your laptop and GPS..... Well Thanks for the advise... Glad it worked for you...., (#@#@#$%$$!) You Edgy dog!

Ford should provide two branded unlocked smart phones with the vehicle. There are different Blue Tooth features (protocols). Not all phones implement all the features. The audible SMS and contact photos require the MAP feature. My iPhone doesn't have it but the Windows Phone 7 that I tested did.
