11Sport
Since the Sport doesnt have HIDs as an option. WHY Ford...WHY do you does this? I was wondering if anyone is going to add a HID Kit. If so what brand? And what type/# buld is in the 11 Sport?
sandjunkie
I would like to know how to upgrade this as well. I think it is one of the flaws in Fords Sport package. It should at least be an option if not standard on the sport trim. I have added a DDM Tuning kit in 5000k to my Jeep Wrangler. I may start exploring there. wkevingossett
RetroSolutions are great, and inexpensive, and they have an Edge specific wiring harness that comes with the kit.... Did I mention the forum member discount? There are many threads on here about HIDs, check them out
sylynce
I put the NV 35W HIDs in mine from Retro Solutions. It took a very short period of time, mostly just trying to dtermine the best place to mount the ballast. I would highly recommend them, Todd is very helpful, so really nothing to worry about (just as good before purchase as after). Go for it. The NV is very much bright enough, and is a fair bit less expensive. Good luck, Jeff

sabtaj1
I bought my two kits and put in the low beams and fogs. They are a smoking good deal too and work great. for the price you cant beat em. Regular ballasts for the headlights and slims for the fogs. Check out the site and you will crap when ya see the price. I have had mine almost a year. LOVE EM! www.wholesalexenonhid.com
jsabia85
Did anybody have to install the harness with the relay due to the auto-on lamps and the bulb outage indicator?
sabtaj1
I have the harness but never installed it. Some say they did and some say they did not. I deactivated the light flash for when I unlock the car via key fob and I do not use the auto headlights either. no problems what so ever with the kits I got. alot of people seem to buy them from retro but I didnt wanna spend that much and I couldnt be happier with my choice. sylynce
Hi Jeff, if you could share some pics of the kit and with lights "on" that would be helpful. Wow- sorry for posting this so late! Just saw the request for more information now. I did install the harness. All in, was about an hour to get the job done, with a small hick-up in the process. Retrosolutions helped all along the way. What pictures do you want posted specifically? I can post anything that is needed that will help out. either post here, or just PM me! maddwakester
Hi Jeff, if you could share some pics of the kit and with lights "on" that would be helpful. My digital 55w 6000k HIDs should be here tomorrow for my mkx :hyper: and than they will be installed immediately. I took a few quick picture of the stock lights to compare to the HIDs when i get them in tomorrow, i'll post pictures asap too so you can see what the 55w look like I posted two pics on this thread of before/after if you want to see a quick comparison http://www.fordedgeforum.com/index.php?/topic/2045-digital-35watt-and-55watt-hid-member-pricing/page__st__160__gopid__46471#entry46471 Edited November 7, 2010 by maddwakester
gordy
instead of an aftermarket kit can't you just install the OEM parts from the Edge limited?

Just curious - how do you deactivate the lights coming on when you unlock with the key fob? I tried the autolamp feature but that seems to be only after you turn off the car - not when you unlock. Thanks, Mike
akirby
I believe this can be done, but the dealer needs to program it for you. Anyone know for sure? I think it's the perimeter lighting feature. Check the OM to see if it's a user defined setting. It is on some vehicles.
nextime
Sounds like a new summer mod!
nextime
Yes, exactly. I also dont like working outside in temps below 20 degrees. Too cold to install in the winter most places.... yet it is darker for more hours of the day. What irony, right?

akirby
who is the Edge Limited? Ford Edge - Limited model comes with HIDs from the factory.
mv-clear
Ford Edge - Limited model comes with HIDs from the factory. Actually I think it's a option, the default is the regular projectors in the 2011 models, but HID's are a option, and in canada I think they were $600 CAD
akirby
I believe you are correct Sorry - I didn't mean to imply they were standard, just that they were offered as a factory option and thus could be swapped into a non-HID edge. 11Sport
Sorry - I didn't mean to imply they were standard, just that they were offered as a factory option and thus could be swapped into a non-HID edge. I called a few dealers and to install the OEM HID it will cost anywhere from $1800 to $2000 (not a typo).

RandyLL
I bought the retro solutions kit and had my local garage install them. They work great! The automatic selector works perfect. Best of all the night vision is much improved over the original.
