luvford
Finally! After 4 long months I got my 2011 Edge Limited in Bordeaux Reserve Red Mettalic today! All I can say is it is awesome! :happy feet: Took it out for a spin of course. The engine is so smooth I was doing 70 before I knew it. Luckily I caught it before the policeman behind me decided to bring it to my attention. :yup: It is so quiet and the ride is awesome. It took 2 tries to connect my phone... but it was my phone's fault... I didn't have the setting right. And I had to go to the manual to figure out how to lower the voice volume on the navigation. FYI just say Voice Volume decrease. Now if I can just get the Homelink to recognize our ancient garage door opener I'd be all set. My only negative... the cargo cover SUCKS! I have never seen anything so pathetic. I'm glad I got the rubber floor pad and bumper cover but the cargo cover... come on FORD it looks like someone sewed it in their garage. Here are a few pictures!

FabulousWu
Wow luvfod I LOVE the color! Reminds me of black cherry. I wanted to reach right out of the screen and then I reminded myself I ordered black! Please update all of us to let us know about Sync and MyFordTouch...if it lives up to the hype (I hope so!). wilsons66604
I'd like to thank you for your report. There isn't a lot of information here on how all this new Ford technology is working for the end user. A few of your points I'd like to address: I have no idea on the web browser issue but if the subject isn't discussed in the owners (or Sync) manual then I suspect the feature doesn't really exist. Or maybe it's one of those features that Canadian customers don't receive. Sync (or MyFord Touch) is built on Flash and it does not provide a fast user interface. I've read that Ford engineers hope to improve the speed with updates but as long as its Flash based, it's never going to be all that snappy. The only way to know if the maps are significantly outdated is to compare coverage with a standalone GPS from Garmin etc. with recent maps. Even the most current NavTech (is that the supplier to Ford?) maps can be missing a lot of existing roads if they've never been reported to them. Regarding the imperial voice directions with the metric navigation settings, does it also do this when your system is set to English? Either way, that is really sloppy programming. In January article on cars.com, they say late availability on the browser... Internet Connectivity Full WiFi capability including Internet “hot spot” connectivity and a built-in browser for use while in “Park” (late availability) Integrated browser supports tabbed page navigation, “drag” to pan and scroll and a provides a 3-D carousel for bookmark browsing Support for on-screen and USB-connected keyboards RSS feed aggregator and text-to-voice reader Mobile in-car WiFi “hot spot” capability through USB-installed air card or USB mobile broadband modem

Hopefully, when we get a few more Edges out there, we can work together with tips like that one to help us jump up the learning curve even quicker. Enjoy! luvford
We've had a beautiful sunny day today here in St Louis. I had the BAMR open and the windows down! Just as a FYI the voice commands don't work too well with the wind noise even though it wasn't that noisy. The microphone is up by the visor. So far everything seems to be working great. I used the "Services" voice command to check for traffic on my drive home. Set home as one of my places on syncmyride. Took a few minutes then was told about construction, the flow of traffic, approximately how long it would take me to get home from the place I was and an alternate route and how long that would take. I set the adaptive cruise control. I love that it shows up in the left hand screen and it shows the speed you've set and the gap (1-3 car lenghts). It even shows a little car and then when another car is in my lane within the gap I've set it shows that car too. My car slowed itself down to maintain the gap and then speeded back up to the set speed very smoothly when the lane was clear. I love the blind spot sensors and the back-up camera. They both have really come in handy. Everything seems so intuitive I've only had to pull out the manual a coupe of times. I even figured out the garage door opener. :hyper: My dealer said that you have to buy a chip to make the car a WiFi hotspot. He also said there was a work around to use the touchscreen as a dvd screen while the car is moving. Someone was talking about that. Hope you all get yours soon! revOevoM
Finally! After the railcar with my Edge on it sat for 6 (six!) day at a repair facility in Michigan, I just got word from CN that it was picked up by NS yesterday afternoon. I found out late Friday that it was just a minor part failure, but it had to wait its turn to get repaired. But thankfully, all that's done and my Edge has resumed its journey to me, its rightful owner. Hope to have it by week's end.
jgilles
I just got an update that as of Saturday the 11th my Edge is sitting at Ramp 60 awaiting shipment! Does anyone know approximately how long they typically sit there before they ship? My sticker says shipment method Convoy so I am not sure if that will make a difference or not? Thanks for any insight as the anticipation is really starting to overwhelm me!

If I re-order, it'll be another 8 weeks... They're supposed to call me today to see about damage, repair time estimate, etc. I'm sooo disappointed... The rust looks up close to be transfer only - not from within. I actually just got a call from my sales guy (who feels horrible, unlike the manager) who said "We got lucky - it's all cosmetic. Should be ready for this weekend" Here's the original photos if you're curious...

I personally would then ask him to order up another one because that glass took a pretty good hit and I know I wouldn't want a brand new vehicle that now needs paint work and a new windshield installed. If you decide to keep this vehicle make sure you go over it with a fine tooth comb and ask for a significant discount because of all this. I even don't mind the silver and I am not at all a silver kind of guy. I have not yet seen a red one in person but I would say these are my favourites colours in this order. 1) Black 2) White 3) Red 4) Blue 5) Silver Good luck and don't forget to post your pics! revOevoM
... some idiot jacked the windshield getting it off the truck... My wife was buying a new [non-Ford] car in April this year. She knew what she wanted; we test drove; she completed all the financing. We drove the one at the dealership that was spec'd out like she wanted except for Nav. "We have one coming in in just a few days..." Well, it came in. But, like yours, was damaged - hers beyond sellable. Another large truck (not sure if it was a vehicle transport) clocked the rear corner of the transport hers was on - at that exact spot. Because they're cinched down like a hurricane's coming, the car didn't budge, but the rear axle did. Bent it and the frame. Silver lining: she bought the one we test drove, got an aftermarket Nav installed (which functionally was much better than factory) including steering wheel control, plus a rear camera and window tint - for the same price as the factory Nav would've cost. She ended up with a much better vehicle. Now, I'm not saying that your outcome may be similar. Believe me, I feel your pain. Just relaying another auto ownership mishap. I wish you the best. (Ya know, if it was me, I'd ask for a new one. Waiting is painful, but having a pristine new car is worth it.)

The truth is cars get damaged in the plant and in transit all the time. The plant has an entire section dedicated to repairing paint problems and replacing glass. The fact that in this case the customer has actually seen the damage should make him feel better, at least he knows what to look for before accepting delivery.
