4DOOR2NV
Hi everyone, I recently purchased a rear bumper cargo protector from Ford at the raped price of 98.00 tax included. (Used HST refund cheque) Anyways, I have a black Edge and I put it on around 10 am and squeezed all the air out, took off all the tape and paper and the vinyl looked amazing. It was perfectly smooth and 100% amazing. When I went out to the mall at 1:00pm, I looked at the cover and it was full of bubbles. I touched it and it was scorching hot. How can I fix this and take out the bubbles? It looks like a 16 year old zit faced kid.
rad48
Same problem here – twice. First time: Two of us carefully placed the protector after removing the entire backing. Then we used the supplied squeegee to smooth it out. Once it hit the sun, bubbles developed AND the protector & bumper became wavy. So, when it was hot, I carefully pulled off the protector and trashed it. Then I spent hours removing the remaining glue with naphtha-based solvent. Second time: Like a fool, I got another one. This time, I slit the backing in the middle and slowly removed the backing while pressing with the squeegee and, at the same time, trying to keep the protector aligned on the bumper. First one direction, then the other. This eliminated most of the sun-bubbles, but the waves returned. When I cease being really p’d-off, I’ll remove and trash the second one. Like most Ford accessories, it’s an overpriced piece of crap.
pxb006
I've had mine installed for over a year and it still looks good. But it is a little over priced.
Platinum White
There is 5 pages of bumper protection information here http://www.fordedgeforum.com/index.php?/topic/3905-found-it/
feelin edgy
Sorry you didn't find this out first, but the ford sticker type protector is overpriced junk. The bushwhacker described in the above thread is great, and about half the price.
sylynce
Go with the Scion xB one that Igcitng found- looks awesome, easy install, and protects the bumpers angled "lip". Pretty inexpensive, and not cheap vinyl. Jeff
