play4heat
I have my 2010 Edge SEL for about 2200 miles now, and for the most part I am very pleased except for one thing, the audio system. The sound is flat and has no presence. The functionally is working fine but an up grade in the sound quality is needed. Best place to start without investing to many dollars are the speakers. An up grade might do the trick, but to match the correct set I needed some specs on the system I have. I do not have the premium upgrade just the basic 4 speaker, 6 in dash CD unit. Does anyone know, or know where I can get the manufacture and the specific specs for the unit I have? I simply get a blank expression from my dealer. rad48
I have the same situation. During walk-around of my Edge, the salesman pointed to the storage bin in the right wall of the cargo area and noted that the base-speaker would go there - if it had one. He said the wiring for the base is wrapped up behind it. I’m wondering if we could just stick a Ford base-speaker and grill in that hole. Don’t know if the existing base-wire is “live” or if something needs to be done at the radio end. If this is possible, we might be able to improve the sound quality at a modest cost and with little effort.
freekyFX4
If the subwoofer comes with the sub-amp, then I would guess that all you have to do is plug it in and mount it.
igcitng
Could someone give a rundown of what the basic four speaker/6cd changer system in the Edge consists of? How many watts is the stereo, what type of speakers there are, etc. Are they just speakers or are there any tweeters or amps etc with them? I ask because I am thinking of getting better speakers and need to know what I have already. Thanks for any help.

The specs. seem to be a deep dark secret, no one, at Ford at several dealers, or any place I have asked can give me the specs. I have the basic system as well, 4 speakers, 6 cd changer, with the sync system, no navagation, and satellite enabled. I would like the RMS watts per channel, peak watts per channel, Ohms of the unit, and the manufacture, Anyone??????????
akirby
There aren't enough watts per channel to worry about. Just get some good aftermarket speakers (Infinity and Polk Audio are my recommendations). They're just cheap paper cone speakers that can be easily upgraded. Perhaps you would have a better response if you had posted this is the "Audio" forum: http://www.fordedgeforum.com/index.php?/forum/6-audio-navigation-sync-interior/ There is nothing "special" or "secret" about the factory speakers. As a previous post noted, just about any aftermarket speaker will be compatible. If it helps there is a post here by me http://www.fordedgeforum.com/index.php?/topic/2138-my-speaker-upgrade-install/page__st__80 with photos of the speakers removed from a 2010 Edge Limited AWD Premium 9-speaker, 6 disk CD (non-NAV) system.
