Gear shift display ?

Hello everyone,

I'm new to this room. I'm still living in Germany but will move to NY at the end of the year. I' ve seen the Edge a couple times over there and I really like it from the moment I saw it first driving on the road. So I did my researches on the internet and it really gets very good feedbacks. I made a decision and I'm thinking of buying one this year. As many other Ford models does this CUV has a gear shift display ? I've never seen it on interior pictures . If one of an Edge owner could reply on this message that would be very helpful . Thank you !!!

You can't select different forward gears in the 07-10 Edge so what use would it be to have an indicator in the dash that tell syou what gear it is actually in. Now if you need it there to tell you if you are in park, reverse or neutral then you have other issues.

I am referring to 1-6 gears that aren't selectable and therfore there is no reason to have a display on the dash. If I am not mistaken there is an od indicator on the dash that illunminates if you turn the od off. Other than that there is absolutely no reason whatsoever to have a shift indicator on the dash.

Calm down boys! I would agree that with the current auto selection with no manual shift mode, there is no real point to display the selected position in the dash (other than nice to know) when its displayed on the shifter stick. But with the face lift 2011 model, there is a manual shift mode (some models) so knowing the gear you are in (1to 6) is a additional help to the rev counter when you want to manually shift up or down. Will help stop you from trying to find another gear when already in 6!

I would put money on the 2k11 having a gearshift display in the dash. I don't think I have ever seen an autostick that didn't. I can't wait to drive one with the autostick just because I am curious how much control they won't give to the driver as far as gear selection where and when the driver wants it.
