jwydock
I just purchased a 2010 Ford Edge Limited. Very happy with it. I want to add a trailer hitch to it with a 1 1/4" receiver to use a cargo carrier that was on my 2002 Ford Explorer. I noticed that the factory hitch comes through the bumper. I really don't want to cut the rear bumper for an aftermarket trailer hitch. I have noticed after marked hitches that mount below the bumper. The hitch looks a little low, and I"m concerned about bottoming out the cargo carrier. Does anyone have any experience with this? I thought about a rooftop carrier, but with the VISTA roof, THULE gets awful expensive, awfully fast. Thanks. Joe
Lex Talionis
install the after market hitch, like a Curt (tons of threads on that here with photos, part #, how to's), and then look into something like this IF it even comes close to bottoming out, which I would not likely bet. a dual hitch extension to lift it up Edited June 12, 2010 by Lex Talionis
